Engine Killed? Help please

I just bought a 95 GXE yesterday for 1100 dollars. It needs engine work. I took it to the mechanics today, but they can't fix anything.
Initially, I try to crank the engine, but it wouldn't crank at all. It only gave me a tick tick sound, and nothing else happend. I went to autozone and grabbed me a $130 optima battery, and it still does the same thing. any ideas. help please

If a mechanic can't fix anything it's unlikely that anybody here could, diagnosing over the internet! Did the car run when you bought it?

Sounds like the starter is toast. When you say the mechanics can't fix anything, does this mean that they don't know what the problem(s) might be?

I was told the car was running fine untill they one day put some additives into the engine, then they left it there for about 8 months. I found the car body to be in top condition, that's why I went for it. I also have a wrecked maxima sitting in the garage. If there is no solutions at all, i'll swap the engines. but thanx for the help

good luck with the swap! sounds like starter, but since you said its new, may be the engine.
if a car sits for 8 months, then most likely you need a new engine.

Additives? Was it in the fuel, like injecter cleaner? I used the Redline fuel cleaner when I first got my car with 80k on it and it clogged up the injectors. I couldnt get it to start everytime and when it did start I had a multiple cylinder misfire. I put some more injection cleaner in and pulled out the injectors, wiped them off and switched them around to see if the misfire would move but after that it just went away.

Pulling the engine already…probably would have been wise to pinpoint why the engine wasn’t turning over.

Just because the starter is new (supposedly), that doesn’t mean that it works. I have put a few new and reman. starters on that wouldn’t engage or stay engaged long enough. The solenoid could be the problem…not engaging the starter or keeping it “locked” up in the flywheel and not letting it turn. Also, whoever installed the starter could have dropped it. I'm not sure how the starter on the max takes abuse, but I know that some starters can very easily be damaged with a short 6 inch fall.

Or it could just be that the engine is seized up and won’t turn over…...
