The maxima all year long????
Hey guys, I have had my maxima since March and am begining to save some money for studded tires. I have my stock rims still so i plan on running studs on there during the winter, I WAS JUST WONDERING HOW OUR CARS HANDLE IN THE SNOW AND ICE AND IF YOU THINK I SHOULD EVEN BUY STUDS OR JUST SELL THE STOCK RIMS AND PUT MONEY TOWARDS A DIFFERENT VEHICLE LIKE A CRAPPY 4X4 TRUCK. Thanks Rich

4x4 truck would probably be worse. Dude you live in Olympia Wa. not Chicago. Maxima with studs would get you there 99.99% of the time. If it's that bad on the roads, you shouldn't be out there. Or everyone else will be stuck so you wouldn't be able to go anywhere anyway.
And ease up on the caps partner. My face is only 2 ft from the screen, I can see normal font just fine.

Yeah, chicago sucks. Fortunately the guy who had my cra before drove to colorado all the time and put new winter tires on. Good tires should be enough. I had all season tires on the old car and they sucked in the snow/sleet, I was sliding coming up to stop signs.

I made it through last winter (in a few inches of snow sometimes) on the Sh!tty a$$ no name tires the car came with. Don't get studded. At most get winter tires. Both actually handle worse except when actually driving on snow or ice (which you're not usually even in the winter). Also, think about it most people survived the winter's back it the day with only RWD.

If your car has LSD, I can personally vouch it drives great in slippery conditions. I drove a '93 SE and it snowed real bad and I was about the only car on the road not on skates.
Even w/o LSD, if you have an auto, it has a very long first gear and starts in 2nd half the time.
BTW:
I'd be more worried about other cars hitting you. In that case, a beater would work.

since our Max's are FWD you should be fine w/ a set of tires in good shape
also .. cool it on the Caps Lock, you're giving the impression to others that you're yelling and/or screaming

As long as you have good snow tires, you should be fine. I drove my car all last winter with no problems, except for a spinout. It handles almost as good as the truck I had before in the winter. The only time I ran into problems was when the snow was so deep the car was bottoming out on it.

as long as you respect the bad conditions (be light on the throttle through 1st gear), you're fine in the snow with some decent all season tires.
there's no reason to be going crazy with the studded tires and whatever else you were planning. unnecessary spending... your car is not a rwd 8-cylinder sports car, its a fwd v6 sedan... heh.
