That my question. Does anyone know what size belt I need to run only the alternator with an Under Drive Pulley? I just removed the A/C Compressor so... I hope this isn't in the FAQ's but if it is please kindly point me in the right direction. Thanks for any help in advance.

Nevermind. Situation resolved. I'm just posting for people who need reference in the future. I got the smallest six rib belt that the local store had. They didn't have a Gates below 20" so I got a six rib 17.5" Dayco. It was a real tight fit. I barely had to tighten the tensioner at all. But hey, it worked and it feels great to be A/C free.

 

Welcome Back, When did your A/C Die? It's going to be Alot easier to change your alternator now!!! Do you notice any difference without the compressor pulley? Besides the free engine space and 60lb drop?

 

Hey man. It didn't die. I was just hoping to gain some power, lose some weight and make some money if anyone needs one. You need one? Yes, there is a huge difference. The throttle respond is insane and the rate that the car tachs up now is unbelievable. Screw Fidanza. Its not quite as extreme weight saving as that though. Might be 40Ibs all together but I doubt it. The compressor is the heaviest and is about 20Ibs. The only other part over 2Ibs is the condensor and that isn't even 4Ibs. BTW, don't jinx me man. I hope I don't have to change my alt. for a long time.

How you been man? Any new developments for your max?

 

Nothing good, I did my alternator and fuel filter, while working down there i too thought about dumping my A/C, I decided to take it out when it broke, good to know that you know the belt size, cause I want a udp too. Are you in town for awhile at least? We should take this to PM.... or I'll just call you tommorrow.

wait a second? I went to the shop today and the smallest belt they carried or made was like 25" are you sure you measured correctly?

kev those were the belt sizes with the a/c. I am looking for the size for those who have removed the a/c unit.

 

Its been a long time since this. I don't remember what size it was. Since I said 17.5" I would assume it is 17.5". Just grab a string and measure it. Without the A/C it is a very simple setup; basically an oval. Get the smallest one the store has and move up or down from there.

 

The belt number is k060325 (gates) it is a 32.5 inch belt. You will use the belt tensioner with this belt. Enjoy

 

i have a UDP with a/c delete and i used 31 1/4 for mine but i was limited to a 4 rib belt so now im trying to track down a 6 rib for a non insane price.. which of the belts is the shorter of the 2 (cant remember which belt was which) here are the sizes i have right now a gates 4pk850 (34") and a 4pk778 (31 1/4")
