Help !!! really bad MPG

sorry i have to post this on the forum but i cant search. i'm getting about 18 miles per gallon or about 300 miles per full tank. i get better mpg if i do more highway miles. my 97 max has 137,000 miles on her. i have short ram intake with k&n filter, y-pipe, apexi ws cat back, replaced knock sensor last summer, no codes saying i have o2 problems, replaced fuel filter 6 months ago, and i'm running on momo 17's. Am i just looking beyond the obvious, is it just that the car is "old" and all the mods or is there something else i need to look for. i should replace my oil sender unit. i change oil about every 4000 miles, last four changes have been mobil 1 synthetic. its been like this since the new year or so. my last max, a '87, was like this as it got older but it was my mom's car so i didn't take care of it till the last two years of its life. are maximas like this with the mpg as they get older. what can i do to help get the most out of my gas. sorry so long. please help.

i only get about 16-19 mpg depending on how i drive -some of the mods help the gas but since u have the mods u tend to drive a lil faster and harder so it actually hurts the gas mpg

An aged car shouldn't lose much gas mileage. Have you tried injector cleaner? I guess it's worth a shot.
You also didn't say your style of driving. Given your mods, I'd presume that you are reasonably hard on the car, and that will put the mileage through the floor.

driving style not soo hard, i like to open it up on a regular occasion on the highway. i live in the burbs (sw) so i don't really get a chance unless i want to in the residential. i guess i "complaining" cause i was getting 25 mpg about a 1 1/2 years ago. pretty much same driving distances. it sucks when you see that you put on 50-60 miles between hashmarks.
