yea i dont know why people think they're pimp, i think our maxipads are much sexier then the i30's (of similar years.)

though, i even like the new maxes better (except 6th gen.. what an ugly design)

Please elaborate for me...why are 96-97s faster than a 98?

98 max like this one. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/likwid...&.dnm=ecb0.jpg

Only thing the I30 has in my opinion thats better the the max is the 1 piece hood & grill. Much cleaner & more sophisticated looking. If someone put a I30 1 piece hood & grill on a max but was able to retain the stock max front bumper, the front end would look 100x's nicer. The I30 front bumper & rear tail light set up is BLAH!!!!!!!!

get a 96, convert the rearend or put out for red/clear tails. I like the grill on the 96's better...cheaper than a later year...ecu stuff...

95 is the best.. get the first half of 95s production line, and you dont have a governor.. and they were made in japan. Anything newer and they were produced in US...not that it matters, but its better knowing i got a TRU import...correct me if im wrong...

95s are lighter, they have more upgrade options, ECU, SP2 greddy full exaust (for 96 also, but wieght is an issue) with 97-99s you cant get cull catback exaust really unless you wana peice something together, or make something custom.

I have a 95 and i just got it repainted, did the front end 97 conversion, and i will NOT do the rear end conversion as the 97-99 back ends look horrible IMO, the only draw back to keeping the 95 rear end is the fact that you cant get red clears, but once you DO get your hands on some, its a increadible custom look that is not replaceable.

But then again, its all on personal prefference, the only REAL negative draw back to getting a 95 or 96 is the fact that they are older, and its really hard to find a 5spd in the color and condition that you want. as for a 97-99 its easier, but then again, its all what you want, u wana new and lame? or old and unique.. its your choice and patience..

What??? Didnt my 97 come off a boat? I thought 02 was the first year max made in the US.

Doesn't the VIN that starts off JN, means it came from Japan????

Hmm..

What causes the coil packs to go bad? Any particular mileage?

What's the difference between the '99 SE and '99 SE Limited, besides the perferated leather/badges? I chose a '99 so I won't have to worry about any major MTX probs... unlike the '95/'96/'97s.

Like other people stated, if your into performance 95-96 models are the way to go. Lighter than 97-99s, and they don't have the CEL problem with an JWT ECU.

97 would be the next best thing for a mix of performance and styling. And 98-99 are the pimp rides.

Edit: And all 4th gens AND 5th Gens were built in Japan. The 6th Gen (2004) was the first model to be built in the US. Symra, TN.

that's what i thought - about where they were built.. that means that other person is wrong about half of 1995 maximas being jap and the other half usa .... whatever. they're all made in that japanese industrial city.
