oem knock sensor -vs- bosch knock sensor

I am tired of having to fill up every 4 days @ 2.10/gal... =( kinda makes me miss my civic almost.. I've seen that bosch makes an equivalent part to the oem knock sensor. Anybody have experience with the bosch brand? Am I just paying for the Nissan name, or does it have a longer operating time? Thanks for all your input

At least with the O2 sensors, if you go to the stealership and buy a "nissan brand", it will in fact be a Bosche anyway. I would bet that the same thing is for the knock sensors, in which case the answer to your question is "neither" and "both" at the same time

If I remember correctly, when doing my research for buying one a year ago, I found Bosch was pretty much the only option, and I *think* was used as OEM. That's what I went with I think.

OEM is a japenese prdouct
Nissan=japense car

You search ebay you will find a cost effective solution that matches or beats a bosch solution.

I got one for 91 shipped to my door this week.

Dumb question, but are you even getting a code? How many miles on your Max. The org has gotten me paranoid on the knock sensor issue. I have a 99 with 50k, no codes, so I am assuming that everthing is as it should be.

that's what I'd like to know. I bought my 99 gle with 81k. I am at 86k now and I've thrown the knock and rear bank O2 codes twice now. Got tuneup done, plugs, fuel filter, tranny flush, oil change. Reset ECU and nothing for about 3 weeks. Felt great after tuneup, but 2 weeks after, i started feeling the lag again. I know knocks dont throw a code, so I'm guessing that's it. ??? arg

hey kev. once again thanks for the help with the clearout tails. but yea on ebay, I'm looking at either 95 for an oem and 40-45 for bosch. plus I have to think of installation because I doubt myself on doing it on my own.

Before you let someone else do it, try it yourself. It is kinda hard, but I found cutting hte clear peices for hte tails harder .

If you can get a NEW bosch one for 45 go for it.

I got my OEM one on ebay and it worked great. I would get more info on the Bosch one before you get it and install it, It's sort of a paint to take the knock sensor out and put it back in unless you have tiny hands...

Bosch is a US company.

*I would go with OEM simply because the Maxima does not respond well with most aftermarket sensors. I bought an aftermarket coolant temp sensor and had worse problems than with the bad OEM one. I just bought a new OEM one and the problem was solved.

Im kinda weary about getting knock sensors on ebay. Makes me wonder if they sell all their knock sensors that they have dropped before.

Then get one from the GD from JR Nissan. I believe the price is about 100 or 110 shipped. Check the Group Deals forum.
