my tranny has been doing this quite often actually every time the wheels slip or spin the tranny locks into 3rd gear and wont up or down shift regardless of what Rpm im at. Then while driving in 3rd gear if i release the accelerator the engine rpm drops then feels as thought the car goes into neutral. for example i was comming home from work yesterday and i was having a spirited drive and my tires slipped and the tranny locked, so was driving after that in 3rd gear at 4k-5k rpms when i got off the gas the rpms would go down to idle then in order for me to accelerate i would have to rev the engine to at least 4k rpms.

In order to "reset" the tranny i have to shut the car off the restart it then no more problems.

sorry for the long post can anyone offer any kind of diagnoses or help?

EDIT: i am aware that the tranny has a safe mode that is engaged whne tires slip in snow or rain, but it happens way to often to be normal, it happens everytime my tires slip

 

Check your tranny for codes, read the FAQ's. The procedure is in there.

 

i did check them i got a few code ..i wrote them down but i lost the paper, i remember bad shift solenoid, clutch solenoid, Vehicle speed sensor, and one or two more
