Exhaust hanger for Y-Pipe

I noticed that some people have an exhaust hanger on their Y-pipes right at the Y-pipe to Cat flange. I this supposed to come stock? Everytiime I look under my car I always remember not seeing one...If this is supposed to be normal, are there any downsides to not having it, and are there any cheap hangers that might be able to replace it?

oh yeah, there should be a hanger at the cat/y flange. the hanger mounts on 2 rubber insulators/hangers. this setup will help your flex section live longer. new from dealer is the way to fly.

Would you by any chance think one of those universal exhaust hangers from Autozone or pepboys might do the trick? It may be ghetto but it might be better than spending 10x more at the dealer for something like this...

$46 WOW thats such a ripp off for a stupid metal hanger. Maybe I'll pay pep boys a visit see if anything looks similar the stock one, if not I'll have to go the dealer I guess, I don't like the fact my exhaust is not being supported in that spot

When I got mine replaced at the dealer it was pretty cheap (thought it was $20 or so), and they replaced them with new ones that work way better than the old design =) I say get the nissan ones.

I bought my Y-pipe second hand. The shop that removed it from the first car just cut it off before the cat flange. So I had to have a few inches of pipe and a new flange welded on. This is how they handled it with new hangers:

after looking at your picture, i'm going to assume that's where the new banging noise comes from because i definately don't have that hanger there. i just installed a new b pipe and muffler and never heard it before but now hear it all the time. i thought those hangers had something to do with the heatshield because mine fell off last winter but i guess i was wrong. i guess my budget y doesn't have that...thanks!
