Door courtesy light
Door courtesy light
I was replacing this light with something more LEDish and it suddenly stopped working....I tested it and it is getting no power but the other side is fine....how do you replace this or fix it?
Ummm, that's a problem that many people have, but noone offered a firm solution yet. Search, there were some threads before contemplaiting this issue. My problem is that my passenger side is always on....

vlad i had that same problem last week i thought it was very weird, then yesterday it went back to normal,
nick did u make sure those metal prongs are tight around the bulb? because i had this problem, i had to remove the bulb and press the prongs together, and it gave the bulb a tight fit...then again, i think u said no power so other than a blown fuse, i have no idea....i have no map lights, mysteriously either...
I looked at diagram many times and it looks like courtesy lights do not have their own fuse, they are wired into other circuit. Did some testing with my uncle and problem seems to be in the circuit between the bulb and the switch onto which door presses when you close it. I believe it was negative that was giving problems, but where???? Gotta look into it more.
actually there is a fuse, its one of the top fuses in the pannel, its called room light or wut ever , dont remember the exact name,,, i had the same problem with mine like vlads, it turned out to be a bad groud wire so i just regrounded the wire and it started working. BUT then while i was doing something else i blew the + wire on the passenger side and at the same time blew the fuse for all those light, but when u blow that fuse all of your dome lights and the door lights stop working. But then to fix the problem with my non working light on the driver side, i had to get a cable running through my car from the working door to the non working one.
"I had the same problem...I shorted out the passenger side light while changing the bulb. The only way to fix it is to replace the window switch. Apparently the courtesy lights are wired into it."
This is correct. I took apart the entire window switch and have yet to find the circuit where it integrates, but I ran a few tests and confirmed that, indeed, the wiring goes through the circuit board mounted to the window switch. I am unsure of the purpose this serves, but it seems like a poor design. My hyposthesis is that a component has failed (a diode or capacitor; something of that nature) that separates the switch (located on the car body) from the light inside the door panel. Good luck finding the component. Better luck would be had with running a wire from one side to the other, as mentioned above. However, this may overload the circuit. Territory is gray and needs to be delved into more deeply.
