got the ECU code '0505' ...

when i looked it up it says:

0505
No Failure Recorded/Detected

then while driving tonight the CEL has come back on, and i'm willing to bet i will see the same thing, what is the deal? anyone else have experience w/this code? why would the CEL go on if there was 'no failure recorded?'

that could have been tripped by gas cap or anything the ECU found fault with, and by the time you checked it the problem went away. So the computer gave you a code of 0505.

It doesn't mean that when the light tripped that was the code, it means that when you checked it, it found nothing wrong with the car.

Reset the light and see if it comes back.
