Here is a question that always pops up, But I never fell there is a clear answer!! As far as I know the 0-60 of a stock 97-99 Max in Auto is 7 sec., and it is 6.6 with a five speed. Am I right or am I wrong? Thanks guys!!

I remember reading somewhere that the difference between the 5spd and auto times was one-tenth of a second!?! I'm not sure which magazine printed that, is it possible?

Not on anything short of some GM with one of their really good transmissions. The later 4th Gens got slower as the years went on due to additional weight and emmisions. The '95 manual is about 6.6, '95 auto about 7.4, '97 5 speed about 6.9, '97 auto about 7.7, '99 5 speed about 7.0 and '99 auto coming up on 8 seconds.

I was talking to a guy at the Nissan Dealership who said the stock 97 (thats the only year we talked about) 5spd was around 6.6-6.8 and the stock auto was 6.9-7.1 Now this is just what he told me Im not sure exactly how accurate it is.

Its always possible, but I would guarantee that no one on this board has got their stock auto through the seven second barrier. But due to production variances, like I said, it is possible. BTW, was it a dealer that said that?

I agree that not a lot of people if any have taken their 97 Auto below 7 secs. I have a 97 Auto SE and did a 7.7 but this was with a Stop Watch so could be very inacurate. I knew the numbers sounded low when he said them and I told him that it must have been very uncommon for them to be that fast. It was a mechanic at the dealership.
