Air Intake

Hey i'm looking into getting a new air intake. I don't want something that i have to drill through my car to put in. But i want it to sound cool, cooler. I saw a post where one dude said that it really roars. Any ideas? i like the sound more so than the sound of an exaust.

Thanks

If sound is all you want, then getting a midpipe and a cone filter will be perfect for you. I made my own midpipe, maf adapter and got a cheap cone filter all for about $35. There is no drilling required and I left all of the bottom part of my original air box.

It had a great roar, but I lost a lot of low end power so I took it off. I currently have just a popcharger setup and it has a light roar, but no where near what the midpipe added to it!

Are you an auto or a 5 speed? I'm a 5 speed so I could feel the low-end "lag" when starting off. I'm not sure how it feels with an automatic...probably not that noticeable.

Cut a few panels off the bottom of your stock airbox. Takes 10 minutes tops, 1 minute with a dremel.

Before, 0 to 60 run: http://www.v6atlanta.com/vids/Stock_0_60.avi

After, 2nd gear hold at 3000-4000rpm: http://www.v6atlanta.com/vids/intake2.avi

After, slow turn, then downshift to 1st gear: http://www.v6atlanta.com/vids/intake1.avi

Makes a pretty big difference.

Those videos were before I put the WSP Y-Pipe on. Just two holes in my airbox.

I suggest going with the hacked air box like Scarface said if you don't want to spend any money. But if you aren't capable of doing that, go to my site (Natural Aspiration) or VQPower for the write-up on a Hot Air Intake.
