I painted my calipers, they look horrible because I didn't take the caliper all the way off. I have abs and I have been told that it is difficult to take off the caliper? Can you help me? What happens when I take off the brake line from the back of the caliper or is there any special way I should remove it, I heard it is hard to remove the brake line because of a pressure build up with ABS. Please help and if you know where I can get instructions please let me know.,
Thanks in advance

There is no reason for anxiety. There is no "pressure build up" in the caliper unless somebody is stepping on the brake pedal. You may remove the calipers in the same way as a brake system without ABS. Raise the front end of the vehicle and support it on sturdy jackstands. Remove both front wheels. Remove the brake hose banjo bolt first, and then the two caliper mounting bolts. Wrap those dangling hydraulic hose ends in plastic baggies to keep dirt out. When you install your newly-painted calipers you will have to bleed the brake hydraulic system.

The key to a good paint job is surface preparation. For brake calipers, sandblasting is probably the best method. Hard work with wire brushes and emery cloth can do a good job too.

You need a book

Please get a Chilton or Haynes repair manual. These books may be purchased at any large bookstore or auto parts store. You may find them on the shelf at your public library.

Brake system bleeding is covered by Chilton (page 9-5) and Haynes (page 9-16).
