you should really look into what you are going to purchase on ebay especially car parts. maybe something needs to be tightened.

I got my CAI off of eBay and I dont have any problems at all with it. What do you mean by two piece of metal rubbing together? You might need to wrap the latter part of the intake, cuz it sits on the wheel well.

What kind of filter came with it. Look into getting a K&N filter, that will change the sound.

I'd rather have a PR CAI knock off since its hard to find the original...PR knock off is better than "Injen" imo....

I'm assuming this CAI is like the PR CAI in that it goes throw the fenderwell. If so, the metal clanks can be occuring in two places. Remember, metal to metal contact when parts move will result in noise. The intake piping does get moved around when the engine rocks in it's mounts under acceleration. The first place to look is near the battery and on the fender. The other most likely place is where the pipe goes through the fenderwell. The only way to stop these noises is to readjust the piping and add some sort of material to insulate the metal to metal contact.

I cut a hose and used that, put it all around the sharp hole. Mine doesnt rattle or anything because of the hose.

The ebay PR Is made of the SAME stuff as the real injen its just not shiny.

Every intake has a few flaws.

PR-------------- you have to cut a hole.
Shortram---------you get warm air
Injen------------ you only get HOT air.
Hacked Airbox----destroys stock part.

I think the ebay PR intake is the BEST because it's cheap and it's the only Real Cold air intake for our car, Which means colder air 98% or the time.

A CAI and almost any aftermarket intake will be much louder then your stock airbox.

i had 4 different intake in the past...

intake #1 - APC popcharger...simply ghettoness
intake #2 - bomz-r CAI w/ K&N filter...got it off from ebay and worked great
intake #3 - bomz-r short ram w/ K&N filter... i want more throttle response and mid-range power.
intake #4 - bomz-r short ram w/ 1st gen JWT filter...sold my CAI + K&N filter for $55 and got a used 1st gen JWT filter for $65. basically intake breath better.

check out the details on my cardomain page 2....

my short ram is ear piercing from outside point blank to the driver side fender at WOT...

but i think it is the gay filter... i will order a k&n, or stillen shortly to hopefully quiet it down...

i had a short ram injen which was quieter than this one, but had a smaller filter and was farther away from my seat in the car...

the closer and less-restricted the filter is positioned to you the louder it will be.... obviously

but it was something i never thought about until i actually purchased and installed it...
