97-99 stillen kit on a 95-96 max

Guys this may be a question but I will ask anyway. I'm soon to get my baby a new paint job. So I figure I might as well add the the body kit at the same time. Can a 97-99 stillen kit fit on a 95-96 max? I know it not the same but can it work?

You asked for it, but if there are different applications for different years they did it for a reason.

only the sides will fit. The front and rears are TOTALLY different and not worth the time and money to get them "custom fitted" For one the front lip for a 97/99 on a 95/96 wouldnt go with the dynamics of the car since both body styles are very different up front. The back bumper on your 95/96 is about 2inches shorter than the 97-99 max. If you really like the look of the 97/99 lip just buy a bumper cover and grill for a 97-99 max. As you can see i did the front end convertion because IMHO it looks 10x better than my original 95/96 front clip, especially with the Stillen lip.
And as far as factory fogs (if you have them now) you can buy a complete kit from JR nissan for like $170 shipped and they will bolt in directly where your 95/96 fogs were.

...otherwise just go with the 95/96 kit and make life for you and your body shop alot easier!

Ok I can deal with the front lip and sides but its the rear that im worried about. the stillen web site makes the rears look funny. Do they wrap around the bumper all the way to the tail pipe like the 97 stillen kit or do they stop at just the back corner of the car???? I was just looking at a few pictures of 96 max with stillen kits. Are those 95-96 kit??? They just don't look the same on the web site!!!! thats my problem.

I thought that the rear valiences pieces were the same for 95-6 and 97-99, the only thing that changes is the sides and the front pieces. The back pieces look like a 97 model.

Nah, the rears are different. The bumpers are different legnths so they wouldnt be universal, you can see in those pics from the link posted how the rears wrap around the edges. They wouldnt fit and wrap since the bumpers are different legnths.

Sides are the same .

Look at this:
http://www.cardomain.com/id/ryan93se

We agree that this is a 95 max with a stillen kit....But this is not the same stillen kit that stillen has on there web (only speaking of the rears). The rears wrap around the bumper on this picture and it seems to be a custom fit. Stillen says that the rears on their 95 kit don't wrap around the bumper.

Is this a 95-96 stillen kit or is it the 97-99 kit on a 95 max????

can someone post more pics of 95/96 maxs with stillen kits

I saw a 95-96 stillen kit on the meet last week and rears did wrap around the rear bumper. But you are right, on Stillen website those rears do not. Maybe they changed design a bit..

Well they didn't change the design. I emailed the guy at stillen and he said that was a picture of 97-99 kit modified to fit a 95 max. I wouldn't mind doing that but everyone here says that its not possible to make a 97 kit fit on a 95 max. I just really need to know asap. New paint job is only 2 week away and I have no kit yet!!!

Nonone said it wasnt possible, it would probably be cheaper just to buy the 97-99 rear bumper and the rears of the kit to go with it. Since your going to paint the car anyway have them paint the new bumper as well.
Be a lot easier then modding the 97-99 rears to fit the 95-96 bumper.

ok since the guy at Stillen has NO CLUE what hes telling you ill explain it for you...
The pic on Stillen website for the 95/96 body kit is as old as the 95/96 maxima. Those were taken when Stillen first made the kit for our generations. Since then the rear for the 95/96 max has changed designs. Just like how they picture the Type 2 spolier on both max's, but NOLONGER make them, wouldnt that throw up a flag!

Stillen obviously has NOT updated some pics on their site. Look at the pics above of Ryans maxima, that exactly how the rear will look when you order them. They DO wrap around and taper upwards.

just to show you i ordered my rears last summer from Stealin and this is what they look like painted and installed:

and like i said in the 2nd post the 97-99 rear bumper is LONGER than yours is so you would need to buy that bumper in order to use the 97-99 Stillen rear vallances.

Thats exactly what I needed to know dude!!! You're right...I didn't know what I was talking about and neither does Dean (employee of stillen). They need to do some updating!!!! But that's what the org is all about...the wonderful world of networking.

thanks for the help

I simply wanted him to check into it for me and he had a cow!!!! ny96max, do you have part numbers for your kit because he swears that they have never changed 95 stillen kit.
