nasty emblem residue

a previous owner tried to remove the maxima and the nissan emblem on the trunk and left a nasty mark on the trunk. I assume it was done long time ago because the residue looks pretty old and nothing seems to be able to remove it. I was wondering how i can get rid of it and have a nice shiny clean trunk. someone told me i can prob sand it down and paint it or something. more info would be great.... thanks!

use a hair dryer to heat up the residue and make it soft....while its still hot, turn off the dryer and spary some goo gone on it....let it sit for a little (25 seconds) and take a paper towel to pick or rub off the residue. You may need to do this a few times.....use many paper towels...its easier that way.

Same thing happened to me when I removed mine (Goo Gone, 3M Adhesive Remover, etc didn't work on it). Left it like that for a few months and then I went to my cousin's place and used a heat gun to heat up the glue. Then I balled up a rag and rubbed that back and forth on the glue and it came right off.

Dang! that looks pretty bad. I used 3M sticker/gunk remover, got it @ AutoZone, to take off the glue. Worked for me.

Thanks guys. One more question. How hot do i have to heat it for it to go soft? cuz i heated it for a while and didnt soften a bit. I also tried leaving the car out in the HOt sun during the summer, but goo gone still didnt help. oh and if you heat it too much, is it bad for the trunk?

I got my residue off but the emblem weathered since it was on and now there is a nasty outline.....I've tried everything including buff and clay bar....I might get a repaint soon though from insurance so it will be free basically.....

There is no set temp. This is not rocket science.

I will concede it is a b!tch to remove ALL of the sticky crap. The hotter it is, the easier to remove. Don't be scared to get in there with a sharp-edged plastic tool. That is what the polish and wax is for.

3. get a spounge and gently scrape them off
