how to replace left front wheel bearing?

Has anyone here replaced their front wheel bearing, specifically the left (drivers side) front wheel bearing? Mine has been sqealing after long drives for over a year now and I finally think it is time to replace it. Any idea on the cost of this thing?

Thanks

Are you sure it's the bearing? When you turn right does it make a "WHOOa WHOOa WHOOa WHOOa WHOOA" noise?

I changed my passenger side on my 3rd gen....it wasnt fun. The bearing itself costs like $30....BUT....the old one has to be hydraulicly pressed out of the hub/spindle. Then, after that it's just a matter of reconnecting everything.

It cost me $20 to get it pressed out, and $30 for the bearing....$2 for cotter pins, and $3 for grease.

There's a write up SOMEWHERE, that was more than a year ago though when I found it.

Thanks I30tMikeD....Frank had an excellent write up there (should have checked his site first before posting this).

Bijan, since this requires having it pressed out, I think I am going to leave this to a trusted mechanic to do. Looks like a pretty tough job.

Well, shop or no shop....it'll cost a penny or two. The reason I did it was to learn it (by myself).....but the "pressing" step fcuked me up.

When I did mine I just did all the labor of removal and intall and paid a shop $40 to press it in and out for me. Still save money, but avoid the hardest part of the job
