lots of people have them, and they are awesome. they are almost as good as adding a ypipe.

My friend has one in his '95 and he LOVES IT! I'm talking he REALLY loves it. The raised rev limiter alone makes this mod worth it but it also adds quite a bit of HP so I'd definitely recommend getting one.

Doesn't really add "quite a bit of HP".

10-15hp throughout the midrange rpm's isn't "quite a bit?" sorry if i beg to differ.

and to the thread starter, definatly grab one. they're expensive, but definatly worth it - as was said above, the raised redline is damn near worth the cost by itself.

I felt no increase at all and my timing continues to go toward 0 . Somtimes if i catch it right my car feels exremly fast or very slow 65% of the time.

jwt and technosquare said they cant do anything about 99 or 98 ecu. you have to get a 96 ecu and run it in the 99. just have to do a a few wires swaps on your wireing harness to get it to work..

Thanks for all the feedback, but now i have a second question.
Has anyone with this ecu had any trouble with the check engine light,
or any other sensor errors after installing this ecu?

...FAQS

There should be no CEL for a 95/96 while there may or may not be one for a 97-99. For you 99 ppl talk to JWT b/c I think that they can mod a 95/96 ECU to work with at least some 99s. JWT has a longer wait period than TS but is more flexible with different MAF, injector, and the all important redline for those with MEVI or -K manifold swap. Research a little more and the best first mod is most likely a y pipe and then maybe suspension or intake or something. ECU works well with other mods especially some kind of Variable intake manifold.

thx

I love my JWT ECU and I wish I would have done it years ago. The extended redline is fairly worthless if you have the stock intake manifold, but if you are boosted or have the MEVI, it's the only way to go. This is defiinitely one of the best NA mods you can do if you own a 95-97.

Power from idle to 3300rpms is unchanged, but from 3300 to the fuel cut, there is a healthy bump in power. Nothing huge, but the power curve overall is raised which equals a decent drop in 1/4 mile. If you never plan on getting the MEVI, then try the cheaper G-force ECU. It does the same thing except raise the redline.

I'm thinking about getting this mod, but I want to keep my Maxima in good shape for a long long time, is the advanced timing any harder on the engine than the stock ECU?

Here's a dyno for you... the only difference between the two graphs is the JWT ECU (this is post MEVI, y-pipe and all those goodies of course). This should give you a very good idea of exactly what the JWT ECU does on its own. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=331053

As for compatibility, since you have a 95, you have nothing to worry about. What I did was pick up another 95 5-spd ECU and sent that one in to JWT. So I have my stock one as a backup too. If you are automatic, keep in mind that you will have to manually shift, to take advantage of the extended rev limit because the transmission computer will still want to shift at 6200 or whatever the stock shift point is when the shifter is left in 'D'.

As Dave said, getting the JWT ECU which will extend your rev limit is pointless unless you have the MEVI too. The Technosquare ECU would be a better choice for you if you plan on sticking with the USM.

I have the MEVI and JWT ECU. The ECU is very much worth it. The midrange that I lost through the MEVI is almost back but the power above where my VI kicks in is fukking awesome. Shifting with the extended rev limiter puts 2nd gear at the hot spot for the MEVI to kick in. Everything is much smoother than with just the MEVI.
I don't take it to or past redline very often though....
