help...i think i screwed up my gauge lights
I tried to do the led bulb mod on my 98 guage. I took out the old bulbs and soldered the leads of the leds on to the copper contacts. I then plugged in the harnesses and dimmer switch to test and the gauge lights would not turn on.
The window switch lights will not turn on and the clock will not dim when the park lights is on. I think the guage is fine because I hooked up a seperate 12 volt source to it and the LEDs worked fine. I also thought that the dimmer relay might be the problem but I check the voltages from the harness that plugs into the dimmer switch and none of the 3 wires gave me 12 volts with or w/o the park lights on. I also checked the fuse and they are fine.
I dont know what else to do or check. helpppppp!

Yeh I double checked that specific fuse. I was hoping the problem was a fuse since all the symptoms lead to it. I think i might just run a seperate lead from the parking lights to a relay and wire that to power the guages. I'm hoping the window switches use the same positive wire that the gauges use so i should get my window switches illuminated as well.

check fuse numbers 66 (under hood?) and 40,26,18,and 13. if you dont have a constant on the blue/yellow wire from the dimmer switch then it has to be number 18 or 66 or the headlight switch. check the fuses with a continuity tester to be sure.

OK PROBLEM FIXED!!!!!! It turns out that it was the "int ill" fuse. My problem was that I used the multi-meter continuity tester to test if the fuse was blown and because the meter showed continuity I thought the fuse was ok.
Anyway thanks to those who replied.... I will post pics later tonight.
