GRRRRR! anyone have this problem from budget?

so...yea...its pretty far off. the pic is with the rear downpipe lightly snug and the front precat (cali) lightly snug. from what i could figure the part thats shown off in the pic is actually right, its the rear down thats off, because the rear of the flex pipe section was really close to the floor pan (1/4"). just curious if anyone has had this problem or its just my luck. thx.

I haven't seen anyone with that issue before. It also sucks that it looks like you can just swing it over to the manifold pipe. Guys with 99's will have to pop in and let you know.

i wish i could swing it over but than the flex section would be tiiiight against the floor pan and also the flange for the other pipe wouldnt allow me to do so. i emailed budget with pics and have to see if theyve had any problems like this.

I had major problems with Budget's B-pipe. It rubbed the trailing arm and wouldn't seal to the muffler flange. E-mail them and they'll take it back. Be prepared to wait though. Getting the international paper work and scheduling UPS pickups is a pain.

okay so i called budget today and the guy said he had read my email and saw the picture but he didnt respond. and he says that its me that cant install it. since they use a jig its impossible to be made incorrectly. he also says that you snug up the rear downpipe and pry the front until it pops into place in the precat...and he says i wont need to pry it more than 1/4"...not what i saw, man i pissed. wtf do i do now? if i had a week off id drive my *** up there make him put it on. i mean im not incompitent, this should be about the easiest mod to do to the max! heres how much its off...anyone in the raleigh area wanna give me a hand?

Ouch that doesn't look right...if I was in the area I would give you a hand.

You're not the only one having problems with your y-pipe. I've recently gotten the "bees in the can" sound on mine and it won't go away.

That Budget pipe is BAD. Either they gave you the wrong one or it was bent mistakenly, either by them or in transit.

Here is my Budget '99 Fed-spec Y-pipe (received in May 2004):

http://www.lvcivs.net/albums/ysts/Y_...lation_029.jpg
http://www.lvcivs.net/albums/ysts/Y_...lation_035.jpg
http://www.lvcivs.net/albums/ysts/Y_...lation_036.jpg

Note that the front downpipe is totally straight laterally. Yours has a bend. Don't know why they didn't paint yours either.

mine did not even look like that design-wise. it was an actual 'Y', not what yours looks like.
have you tried hooking it up in the precat first then fitting the rear onto the cat?
i just dunno..

I received my Y by courier and the pipe is solid. I've had no problems whatsoever with fitment nor sound. Budget used to paint their Y's black but not anymore.

Your pipe is certainly a much different designed Y than what I have like the pic below:

Good luck with the install!

shouldn't be though....my y isn't fitting proper but mostly due to hitting speed bumps made for blocking jet's afterburners. Damn speed bumps!

okay so after a couple of hours prying with 4 prybars and both hands a feet i finally go the bastard in...whew. just have a couple of more questions, what am i supposed to do with the bracket thats welded on right behind the flex section. as in one of the pictures i tried just putting it over the stationary bar near the shift linkage but taht was too tight, and also related to that bar i assume, the cat is hitting the floor pan. just curious to see what you guys did to prevent this...or is it me witha problem pipe again.

it looks like that bracket is hitting the shift linkage but it actually isnt, its got about 1/2" clearace. you can see the rubber hanger on the left side is pushed over far so im worried about bad rattles in the future, there is a light one now. and lastly there is a pin sized, like smaller than ball point pen tip, in the weld whre it goes from 2 to 1 do you guys think that would be a problem?

Great but you paid 2x as much for pretty welds, congratulations. I got mine for $170 it's all SS besides the welds which are still holding after all this time.

Oh man that's a good one. You keep coming back to my mom in everyone of your pointless and pathetic posts. Again using LOL, is anyone supposed to take you seriously?
Construction? OK I just put a cattman on a friends car and they looked almost identical, of course his entire pipe was rusted and mine was much easier to put on.

get mad man..I love seeing it. Anyways, I've heard complaints about budget y-pipes, not cattman...so i went with cattman.

And my posts maybe pointless, but most of yours are just bashing people, not helping at all. What makes you so bitter anyways? Bashing people in a forum must really make you feel special. Hey, whatever boosts your ego,...real life must be horrible to you.

Yeah, it's terrible. I bash people cause they deserve it. Did you happen to notice, I bet you did since you seem to know everything about me, that I bash those that post stupid questions that have been answered a million times before? If they ask a good question or have trouble with something I'd be the first to ty to help them. What pisses me off is when someone has something go wrong with the car and instead of trying to figure out what's wrong, they hurry to the ORG and ask newb BS. It's just sad to see how stupid and lazy people on here are. What complaints about budget? I've never heard one that's why I have the pipe. If I wanted to feel special and spend $350-$400 on a cattman I would but I'd bestupid to pay that much for a $150 pipe.

I do feel special with the cattman If questions **** you off..just don't reply to them...didn't know it was so hard to ignore something. And who are you to judge? I see alot more people that are more knowledgable than you are, but I don't see them ***** as much as you. If the forum stresses you out this much, go somewhere else.

People have to learn the hard way. Don't worry I see you getting out of here pretty soon. It bothers me cause I don't want the ORG going to hell which it seems to be doing right now. It sucks since 2-3 years ago it was a much better place.
