EGR Valve Solenoid
I have the same 0302 code popping up. Was the EGR valve solenoid easy to replace? How much is a new one and where would it happen to be located? I do not have a manual. Thanks in advance
Any luck in fixing this?? I have had this problem for a while and was wondering how hard it would be to fix myself??

Excluding '99's, it is SOOOO simple to verify first whether or not it is the guide tube clogged up........
And you wouldn't be the first .org member to go through the whole ordeal of cleaning the tube just to be like "wtf, still there guys"
W/engine running (and cold so you don't burn yourself) reach way down and manually lift up on the egr valve. It's just like finding the G-spot! If the engine stalls or stumbles bad it is NOT the guide tube. Really takes 10 seconds if you know exactly where to reach.

where do you reach? can we get a photo?
I'm probably gonna tear my girlfriends engine apart to clean the damn EGR this weekend if not.

or............you can pull off the air box and simply look into it. there will probably be a bunch of buildup. when you look in, there are 2 openings there. one is the IACV, other is the EGR pipe. while you are at it, its probably a great to to clean the throttle body, IACV and EGR pipe since pulling those off makes getting to the EGR pipe easier. Oh, and if you do clean it, actually take the sensor out of the tube and thoroughly clean it (you'll see what I mean)

what would looking into the airbox show you?

it isnt the EGR that is throwing the code. It is the sensor located on the small EGR tube that runs from the EGR to the plenum. the top is usually what gets clogged. that code isnt the solenoid valve. do a search. if you cant find anything pm me your email addy and I can email you a writeup.

On your 99 Max it could be the egr temp sensor. It needs to be a certain resistance value or it will throw a 0302 code. You can just disconnect it and check the value when the engine is cold. I can't remember the exact resistance, but I got one from the junkyard to swap. The new sensors are $100.
