Utt ohh Speedometer Stoped working!? came back tho, im sccared

My freakin speedometer has been real messed up lately...aright heres the story. Maybe like a week ago, i was in an empty commuter lot with a buddy n i was leaving n turning/spinning for maybe like 2 seconds, having a little fun, then my speedometer just sat at 0..... im like uhhh WTF??? i drove home, thought it musta been something electrical, so i was gunna reset ecu but then i got to lazy to find a screw driver so i just unpluged the pos battery terminal for a min n reput it on, problem solved, speedometer works, i think the problem is fixed....so yesterday im driving on some grooved pavement, you know like right before they pave a road they groove it, it was also raining if that has any imput in the situiation, im driving 100% completely normal crusin going maybe like 40mph and then the speedometer droped to 0 for like 10 seconds, then jumps back up to 40....WTF??? im pissed. So now im thinking a sensor or something maybe?? i have no idea anyone got imput?

Ok...............seems as if you missed the entire point of resetting the ECU. When we reset it, we usually want to see why it came on in the first palce, so we get over the laziness and look for a screwdriver, I carry one in my car for this particular reason, to pull codes when a CEL turns on. Maybe it's your vehicle speed sensor, or maybe not, pull the codes and then post.

Mine did that right before my alternator died. After replacing the alt and battery the speedometer was fixed.

Sounds like something is loose in the speed sensor/speedometer circuit. If the CEL does not come on when the speedometer dies than its something related to the ECU sending its signal to the gauge cluster. If the CEL does come on when the speedometer dies more than likely its a faulty speed sensor or loose sensor to ECU wiring.

This happens when the alternator goes and the car begins to run out of juice from the battery. It happened to me when my alternator went and there was nothing wrong with the speed sensor circuit.
