Need help quick! Starter is out?
M car doesnt turn over to start and i changed the battery. It still does it with a fresh battery so i beleive my starter is out. Im trying to find it on my automatic transmission but i cant seem to locate it. Can anyone pin point to me where it may be? 99 Nissan Maxima GLE. Quick response much appreciated..Also any tips or tricks to try and get me one last start out of this starter so i can get home and change it? Thanks!

I just replaced my starter. its on top of the tranny where the tranny and engiine meet. Look under the trottle body.
To get one more start out of it tap on the solenoid of the starter. Use something like the wood handle of a hammer. This will get the solenoid to click and then hopefully it will start. same thing happened to me last week and I used this method to get the car started and drive home. Only thing is tat you will have to remove part of the intake to reach it. Hope this helps, good luck.

no tricks buddy, it's easy game, but you have to remove your intake setup.
1) remove your intake setup, the maf, resonator, air induction, and so on. (the starter is located somewhat below the intake throttle body)
2)identify the two solenoid bottles, one big and one small, with some taped wires attatched to them. the solenoids should sit right on top of the gear box and on the side of the engine. it's not hard at all to find it. ( pm me if you need pix)
3) remove the starter by unplugging the attatched wires, and release two screws. the longer screw is a 17 mm. and shorter screw is a 14 mm. it's really easy to remove them.
4) installation is the reverse. this is by far the easiest mechanical situation i ever encountered with the car.
