Car is being retarded and not starting! Help

Yesterday, I went out to grab a bite to eat, when I tried to start the car to leave...it started for a few seconds then shut off. After that it just wouldn't start, so I thought it was the battery. I bought an optima redtop battery, replaced it, and it still didnt start. Then I thought it had to be the starter. So I took the starter out, had it tested and the it was tested as a bad starter. I replaced the starter today with a new one and it is still not working. It is making a sound like it is about to start, but is just not fully starting(The sound was a better sound than the previous starter, as if it were about to start). Tomorrow I am going to take the starter out, put it back in and try it again. If that doesn't work, I was going to go back and get that one tested, since it is a remanufactured one. Does anyone know what is wrong...... are there any common parts that get messed up that are linked to the starter?

Just a side note: when I try to roll my windows up they go up very slowly.

jump the starter and see if it spins, if it doesn't get another one... sometimes autozone starters are a pos and wont work right.

That is what I was going to do tomorrow...I don't want to go replacing parts that don't need to be replaced such as the alternator or anything like that.

I dont see why the starter wouldn't crank up even if the alternator was bad and your battery had enough juice..

Does it click then stop?

Sounds like a week battery/bad connection/bad cables problem to me... with a fresh (fully charged) battery - your windows should go up/down normally... unless of course you have drained the new battery by cranking and cranking for a long time. Did you check all the fuses and relays (esp. the fuel pump, ignition).
