If i bought the special 12 volt led's how would i go about wiring this? Also, how do i wire neons to a switch? I know on the switch that you connect the power, the ground, and the positive of the neon, what do i do with the negative of the neon? Any write-ups?

u ground out the negative, if you wanted you could ground it to the same location as the switch

i would wire the LED's to the illumination wire (+) and (-) dimmer wire off either the hazard button or the rear defrost button. Using the (-) dimmer wire will allow you to dim the LEDs using the dimmer switch.

Neons if you want the easiest way... go to the cigarette lighter and use the switch on the (+) lead.

Do you know which wires these are? What color are they?

yeah, ive got em in my car. theyre the cheap ebay ones but they work. (lights) i just ran a line from the positive terminal through the quarter panel and the rubber seal for the door wiring to the interior by the fuse box. i drillied a small hole in the kick panel (where it wouldnt get kicked) and mounted a generic toggle switch there. getting the leds into the center vents isnt hard but the outside vents are a pain in the a$$. to get to the passenger side vent you need to remove the glove box and loosen that side of the dash. the bolts are easy enough to spot, not so easy to undo. pull on the dash and the vent will slide out of the piping enough to get the led in there. drivers side is almost the same process. i havent slept for two days so i apologize if this seems a little jumbled. any questions just ask.

its remotely possible... remove the fuse for the airbags to be safe if you want.

I wouldn't go through all that trouble, I'd just put them in the center vents. I just want to know as NY96MAX said, which wires can i connect them to from either the hazard lghts or rear defroster. Acidmeld, do you have any pics?

sorry, no pics. the illumination wire (+) is the red/blue wire and the dimmer wire (-) is the red/yellow wire. wiring it to these will allow the lights to be used in circuit with the lighting system. the leds will be on when the lights are on and will dim with the other lights. i just wired mine up with a toggle switch. never thought about doing it like this til now. im getting my info from the haynes manual wiring diagrams. i think i might redo mine tomorrow

i do not know how to get themin the side vents but i am going to attept it next wekk maybe. this you do not have to drill holes. there are already holes there. i bought a pack of 3 led's at auto zone that had wires and resistors already attached, so all you have to do is stick them in the holes and hook them up to a 12 volt source.

you changed the color of the lighting underneat? my P,D,N,R (WHATEVER U CALL IT) LIGHT UP WHITE...CAN U GIVE ME A LITTLE WRITE UP ON HOW TO GET THOSE TO LIGHT UP WITH BLUE LEDS OR SOMETHING? IS IT TOUGH TO GET IN THERE?

AND ONE BIG COMPLETELY NOOB QUESTION, AND I KNOW THIS IS DEALING WITH VOLTAGE, AMPS AND CURRENT, BLAH BLAH, BUT YOU CAN ONLY PUT 1 12 VOLT "APPLIANCE" IN URE 12-V CIG LIGHTER? I WANT TO WIRE THE HEAT VENT LEDS TO MY CIG LIGHTER, AND SOMETHING ELSE THERE AS WELL....

sounds like a plan, ive got my underdash neons from my cig lighter on a switch, ill take the power from the neons to the led, this way the switch controls the leds in the heat vent....good....and im getting the autozone leds for the heat vents since i cant wait....

I tried to wire it to the illumintation wire off of the hazard light, however, it didn't work. Now, the hazard light and the rear defroster light don't work. The buttons still function however. What do i do? I didn't cut any wires, I used phone wire taps. How can i check why the lights of the buttons don't work?

the light where the gear selector is lighted up by a #194 bulb. i think it'll be easier to buy an inverted #194 bulb and put it in there.

I connected the LEDs today into my heat vent. It looks hott. I used the the wires from the hazard button as a power source. However, I am still confused, the buttons function and there is power going to them, but how come the light of the hazard button and the rear aren't coming on (the light of the picture)? Anyone have a clue.

inverted bulb as in the led one that shine at a wider angle. the bulb should similar to this...

and for the location of the bulb.. did you remove the center console as in the one where you rest your arm? it is held down by 4 screws. you would need to take the trim around the shifter off first, then you'll see 2 screws. the other 2 are in the back of the console. to remove the console, you must pull your ebrake all the way up and then you have to tilt the back end of the console up high enough to get the ebrake handle through. once that's out, you can see where the bulb under the shifter is on the driver side easily. it is removed by just a twist and it comes out. if you really need a pic, i can tear apart my car and take a pic for u tomorrow if i have time.

Now i recall i did the clock mod also. I'm assuming that's what the problem is. My window switches do light up. As for the cup holders, I would drill a small hole in the space in between the two cup holders. You can't really put it inside the hole of the cup holder.

you cna never really get that clock true blue, no matter how much cellophane u put, im just gonna leave the magenta cellophane and make it white....as for the cup holders.....hmmm....im not sure how that would look, i think LEDs look best when they are hidden behind something emitting the light onto something else...ive got three switches in that space between the cupholders....its an easy way to get tot the cig lighter....but i have my two strobe switches and underdash neon switch in that area
