Start-up Problems .... Diagnosis?
Start-up Problems .... Diagnosis?
Here is the problem
On cold start up the car smokes for about 5 seconds or so. It is oil smoke I'm sure; has a bluish gray cast to it. After it stops smoking at idle then its ok unless you rev it some and the car smokes a little more. After the car warms up the smoke goes away almost completely unless there is a hard rev. The car in question has 110k miles on it and stock except for a intake. I'm thinking it must be the valve seals and not the rings but I guess I need to do a compression check to verify my assumption. What are your opinions?
Thanks,
John
Oh yeah, its a 1997 GXE auto

yeah, sounds like you are burnin a bit of oil. have you checked your oil level?
edit: oh yeah, definately do a compression check and make sure they're all about the same and not too high or too low, should be between 180 and 200 i think...
