performance upgrades for a Maxima GXE

hey there i've got a '99 Maxima GXE that i just bought, looking at some basic upgrades for the suspension, and brakeing system. im just gonna ask if you guys know of any good links to "what to get" kinda sites. so far i've just heard is when i get the suspension worked on, get the SE shocks and stuff.... also maybe looking at brake upgrades (i'm more worried about slowing down that going fast), i tend to drive some what crazy. its got 4 Wheel Disc brakes (w/ABS), but they are already squeakin a bit, so im gonna go get them looked at anyways.

"what make my max go faster?"
"what does this CEL mean?"
"How do I check it?"
etc etc etc etc
