ECU Reset
ECU Reset
any body know of another write up on reseting your ECU the link on here is broken never done it so i dont know ::shrug:: help would be appreciated thanks in advance pm me if you want
Try this link: http://www.brianv.net/mods/ecu/
Turn screw fully CW, wait 2sec, turn CCW, wait 2 sec, repeat once and it should be done.
Here's a full CEL writeup http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecu.html.
I was under the impression that the above method cleared the codes, while the battery way cleared everything the ECU has learned about your car/driving habits.

I don't think it resets the ECU when you unplug the battery... Maybe ThurzNite is right about the 24 hr thing...
I just installed my new CAI saturday and I obviously had to unplug the battery. As soon as I plugged it back in, the CEL was immediately on for the vehicle speed sensor (something that takes about an hour of driving to come on normally with an ECU reset).

"dyno notes : The easiest way to reset the ECU is to
remove the negative terminal of the battery for about
a minute. Make sure the key is out of the ignition when
you remove the terminal and when you put it back on."

hey thanks guy rewired the speed limiter wire back together since i reasoned how often do i get the chance to go over 100 besides thats just asking to take my max away besides i didnt want the aggrivation of dealing with the check engine light and i didnt think it was worth it to run a switch and do all that work just to go over 100 kinda dum so i hooked it back up and reset it
My speed limiter kicks in around 118. Why's yours kick in at 100?
I'm just typin out what the Factory Service Manual says. 24hr has worked for my other nissans, but never tried it in my 97 Maxima yet.
