Or you could just unplug the battery for a few minutes ...

Turn screw fully CW, wait 2sec, turn CCW, wait 2 sec, repeat once and it should be done.

Here's a full CEL writeup http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecu.html.

I was under the impression that the above method cleared the codes, while the battery way cleared everything the ECU has learned about your car/driving habits.

I don't think it resets the ECU when you unplug the battery... Maybe ThurzNite is right about the 24 hr thing...

I just installed my new CAI saturday and I obviously had to unplug the battery. As soon as I plugged it back in, the CEL was immediately on for the vehicle speed sensor (something that takes about an hour of driving to come on normally with an ECU reset).

Unplugging the battery for a bit does reset the CEL light (only of course if the problem has been corrected)

"dyno notes : The easiest way to reset the ECU is to
remove the negative terminal of the battery for about
a minute. Make sure the key is out of the ignition when
you remove the terminal and when you put it back on."

Maybe its 'obvious' you installed it wrong ... and you just got around to installing one? ...

I bought my Max in March

Hey maxima_kid,

Don't you think that is a little too much piping for a CAI?

My speed limiter kicks in around 118. Why's yours kick in at 100?

I'm just typin out what the Factory Service Manual says. 24hr has worked for my other nissans, but never tried it in my 97 Maxima yet.
