my horn is not working, my cousin who is a service manager at a local auto parts store hooked up a wire to the horn and battery and it worked. however, it will not work from inside the car. i recently replaced my steering wheel when i painted the dash and got a new steering wheel. so, i decided to check the clockspring, and when i turned it counter-clockwise, it would just keep spinning and would not get tight. i researched the internet and found that many vehicles whose horn and cruise control doesn't work, it relies on the clockspring. if it is the clockspring, anyone got one that they would sell? i need the horn to work in order to pass inspection in Maine. thanks!

 

that happen to me before i had replace my streeing wheel and broke my clockspring by mistake you have to be very carful with that clockspring. also did you get into a car accident because that can mess up the clockspring also.the cruise control air bags and horn are all connected to the clockspring and that little thing cost in ny it cost adout $400 bucks in the stealership. i had to get mine the hard way. thats something hard to come across because in junkyard if and airbag blows the clockspring blows (most of the time ) good luck

 

do the cruise control buttons work?

you could rig up a bypass switch for the horn for a quick temporary fix.

 

I'm certain the cruise control works because it lights up. How would I go about in hooking up a bypass switch for the horn? I'm still positive that it has something to do with the clockspring because when i rotate it, it just keeps spinning and doesn't get tighter and stop.

 

i dont know off hand what wire it is, but you find the horn wire (under the steering wheel) and tap into it and send it 12 volts through an new momentary push button switch. mount the switch in an easy to reach spot. it should pass if you press the horn button when the inspector asks.
