I know i know, i should know this but cant seem to find anywhere to know if my 97 Maxima is GLE, GXE or SE... it has Bose System, sunroof with wind deflector, spoilers and the speedometer part is white... but no leather seat. Can someone tell me what i have..? It is not in the manual or on the back of the car.

thank you

I would think SE, but to be sure, check that your door handles are body color and not chrome.

If there's nothing on the back of the car, it's not a GLE. It's either a GXE or SE.

The SE's usually have the white face guages (sounds like what you have).

As Klamath said, check your door handles...if they aren't chrome and they're body colored, it's an SE...

What kind of OEM wheels and tires do you have?

SE's usually have the 16 inch 5spoke wheels...

Hope this helps.

I dont believe they put the white faces on anything but the SE. Also I believe all SE models came with 16 inch rims.

This information comes from the '99 Maxima factory service manual.

Raise your hood. Look for a shiny metal identification tag fastened to the
passenger side of firewall. The top row is the Vehicle Identification
Number, starting with J. The second row is model information. The first
five characters are BLHUL. The sixth character is the trim level designator:
E = GXE
G = GLE
V = SE

If you're in Canada, it could be an ES. The ES model was basically an SE without some of the perks, like leather seats.

Here's a process of elimination for you;

1. No leather, NOT a GLE. So it's an SE or GXE
2. Do you have;
door handles the same color as the body?
white face instrument gages?
star 16" wheels?
the front grille has NO chrome on it??

If you can say yes to all of question 2, then you definitely have an SE.

Ah, but remember, a bunch of us have changed our cars so that they look like the SE in apperance. The only TRUE way to make sure is Daniel B. Martin's way. Damn, he's right again.
