Ive got it all itemized from day one...

Used '96 Black 5 Spd SE with every factory option ($6000)
replaced alternator (paid for by previous owner)
replaced battery ($40)
replaced reverse position switch ($25)
repaired wiring short ($25)
replaced hood cable ($40)
replaced spark plugs ($15)
replaced PCV valve and hoses ($15)
replaced fuel filter ($10)
replaced intake and air filter ($150)
replaced front and rear calipers ($240)
replaced all brake pads and rotors ($460)
flushed brake lines and replaced brake fluid ($15)
replaced Y pipe and cat converter ($445)
replaced Cat converter exhaust bracket ($40)
replaced 3 broken wheel studs ($20)
replaced gear oil with Amsoil GL-4 ($40)
Amsoil engine flush ($10)
put in Amsoil synthetic oil ($20)
painted calipers ($60)
MOMO hubcentric rings ($25)
Knock sensor ($150)
New front O2 Sensors ($190)
replaced air intake sensor and other various intake parts ($80)
PRMM Engine mounts ($300)
Fog light kit ($225)
Body work and repairs ($2500) (if I only knew before I bought it)
New Stereo + install ($600)
'98 Digital gauges ($150)

Yeah so its about 12 grand total... But Im lucky cause my car had alot of problems but I fixed most of them myself, except the bent frame and other body damage that had to be repaired at the body shop. I also did all the mods myself except the stereo and some of the exhaust work.

Is it worth it? After the body work and Place Racing motor mounts went in I was very happy with the car. But before that the car drove like crap and I was thinking of selling it.

The car cost me $22,000 brand new out the door in Jan/'98. About $15,000 on 9 different sets of wheels alone. The rest of the mods about $12,000. And about a million gallons of my own sweat and blood on labor.

When I had my 4th gen, I spent approximately 2500 on my car. That was 1500 well spent, though. I would do it again if I had a 4th gen. I almost bought a SC for the car before I sold it. Good thing I didn't.

even if people would buy a G35, they'd try to mod that too, the cycle will repeat.

i paid 3900$ for my car knowing well id be putting 2-3 grand in mods. just so at the end i woulndt be feeling guilty on the money i spent

absolutly agree with you. i have spent more the cost of the car into mods. Keep in mind i bought the car for 6500.

Personally i would have rather saved for another car. But hey, we all will go through this once in our lives, have fun now, while we can

i dont think mine was well spent... i've wasted a lot of money on intakes that i didn't like or didn't fit... i've wasted money on bulbs (clearance, heads, fogs, bumpers) that i took out and went back to stock... i've wasted money on exhaust installs only having them screw it up... i've wasted money on my exhaust... so overall... no, i really do wish i could take all that crap back and put it into something i know i will want...

I got the car for about $8K...

Body:
Kits, Fenders, Hoods, Tint (Got them redone 3 times), Lights(Probably changed each polarg bulb atleast 3 times), LEDS, Mirrors, bulbs, strobes, body work atleast $10K

Suspension:
Struts, Springs, Bars, repairs, ball joints, endlinks etc atleast $3K

Wheels:
Went thru 3 sets cost me atleast $4K

Performance:
Bolt ons.. intake, b pipe, y pipe, stillen catback, Stage II VB Mod.... $1,500

Braking:
Rotors, pads $1K went thru 2 sets or was it 3???

Audio:
Went thru 4 different sub. setups $4K

Repairs and maintanence and gas over the past 2 years atleast $8-$10K, I fill up atleast twice a week at $30 - $33

Future: V2 Blower, and 5 Spd Swap, MEVI, Cams, Headers, and JWT ECU! Just need the $ that's atleast another $10-12K!

Total including everything and I mean everything wow $40K... and I'm still in debt by $10K but I'm paying it off...

Moral:

I'm young and naive I bought a lot of things didn't like them bought other things of the same kind etc. This was my first car and it turned out great it's a real head turner but then I contemplate on the fact that I could have saved up a lot of my $ and bought a G35 or the works. But then I think, that car is great and all but doesn't have that sleeper affect and regardless I may not be able to make the Max handle as good but I can definantly make it faster than the G and brake better and in terms of looks if a Max is tastefully modded it looks just as good as the G. So I figured I'd wait till the Skyline came out or until the G got cheaper or so.
