Bad for standard tranny?

Hey guys..is it bad for any part of your tranny to keep it in Reverse and let the car park and some of the weight rest on it rather than keeping it on the parking brake?

It is always better to leave a car in neutral while parked, and never start the car in gear, it could take off on you.

the car wont take off on you you have to have the clutch engaged for the car to start. and no it dosent hurt to leave it in gear if you use the parking brake with it.

Well I guess thats the thing. I just keep the car in gear (usually reverse) to keep it stopped from rolling, then I release the parking brake so I dont warp the back rotors from heat.

There is a small incline that the car rolls back on and puts its weight on the tranny while in gear and parked. Does this weight hurt the tranny?

it "shouldnt" hurt but you should rest the weight on the parking brake and not the gears. Leaving it in gear is just a backup just incase your parking brake fails or when your on a hill
