Failing tranny or bad clutch?

I have a 96 se 5sp that is having some problems. The clutch is still grabbing around mid release but it has a slight grind that I can feel in the pedal just as it grabs. Also lately it?s been getting harder to shift between the low gears. I was told an easy test to see if the clutch was bad, was to get on flat ground and slowly let the clutch out in 3rd gear, if the car rolls and doesn?t stall (which it does), then the clutch was junk. So I ordered a spec stage II, and today was told it might possibly be the tranny. Course I really didn?t want to hear that. How can I tell what the problem is, besides bringing it to a shop? Anybody have any clue?

C'mon guys, no reply... Did anybody have a manual transmission go on them? What were the symptoms? How about bad clutch symptoms?

Im no tranny expert but when my clutch went out, it had a hard time grabbing gears. I would have to rev higher for it to finally grab. When it did go, it died completly and would go nowhere. I never had any grinding though.
