Anyone here use an after market steering wheel? like Momo etc.

I had my airbag stolen and was thinkin, screw the airbag... get a whole new steering wheel.

If anyone has an aftermarket one put in, can u tell me what kind u got how u like it.... Thanks.

i wish i could show pics (soon enough) but i have a sparco steering wheel, at first it felt kind of small cause i was use to a 'bigger' steering wheel, but man, factory sucks, the only bad thing is no airbag, oh well, i like it alot, go for it

I wish there were nice three spoke wheels instead of the stripped, racing look wheels. Gravy would be ones with airbag compatibility.

i got a momo net steering wheel with quick release hub. i love my steering wheel. it cost me around $400 for the setup. ($250-wheel, $100 quick release, $40-50 momo hub) but you could find much cheaper steering wheels.

rowan- momo makes the millenium evo steering wheel. it's a nice fat 3 spoke steering wheel that would look awesome on a black interior.

In this specific case, not sure if the "looks nice" factor should take precedence over the safety of having an air-bag... not trying to turn this into a "are air-bags safe or not" discussion... it was just a thought.

Silver MOMO Jet. I'm thinking about swapping it out for the Millenium though. A friend can get them for me for very cheap.

Honestly, I love this wheel. It took about a day to get used to it, but now the feel is very nice. Much more comfortable than the stock yacht steering wheel.

Hub is what attaches your steering wheel to the steering column. That's all. Different model cars have different steering columns and different steering wheels have different bolt patterns. Hub just adapts a steering wheel to fit a car. You have to get it or else you can't install an aftermarket wheel.

has anyone been in a wreck before with an aftermarket steering wheel? I'd be interested to know if it is still safe to throw out the oem 1 with the airbag.

hrmm does anyone feel like they should sell there oem steering wheel+airbag and get a aftermarket steering wheel for a fraction of that and have some money left over? Or maybe im just a stupid p00r teenager. I was primarily, wondering if anyone foresee's any problems with driving with an aftermarket steering wheel. I know it doesnt have the airbag however, the older cars dont have airbags and people still drive with them... hehe If i ever get in a wreck i can hold on!!!!!

well say ur racin,u hit what 120+mph? and u crash..aftermarket or stock i think ur gonna be 6feet under or a veg layin on a bed for the rest of ur life...ive never been in a accident wit an airbag, but ive been in plenty(damn female drivers) w/o and just wearing a seat belt and i did fine and ive seen people get banged up more by the airbags vs selt belts..its ur life you do what u think is best for YOUR needs

just a scary idea thats all....wuts a typical collision in which ure airbag deploys? for example...60mph into a tree, 20 mph into hydrant, cuz if it takes 120 mph into something to deploy it, then im going aftermarket myself

Yeah, just like when you were little and your mom would use the "forearm across the chest" technique when she had to stop quickly...holding on won't do shi.t

It's actually a really low speed, I think somewhere around 20 mph could deploy it. They do gov't crash tests at 35 mph, and in some cars, the dummies sustain enough injuries to cause death. If you hit a tree at 60, you're most likely toast.

all i remeber was that the setup involved some kind of a "floating" screen so that even when you turned the wheel it screen would stay level. kinda cool i thought.
