Ok so we went to race and the guy in the Grand AM was talkin a bunch of crap about how this race was going to be pointless for him because he was going to win by so much and all this other dumb $hit. Well he really shouldnt have said that because I beat him by about 3 car lenghts. I only raced him once though because he was almost out of gas(supposedly). Now of course the guy in the Eclipse was there and kept asking me to race him so I just decided I didnt really care if I lost or not and said I would. All the guys that were there were saying that he would beat me by 4 car lengths. I didnt know really what to excpect, I knew he would trash me off the line with his 5 speed, AWD and his Turbo I did think I could catch him though because they are only 4 cylinders and their high end power is weak. So we raced and he did beat me pretty bad off the line but I pulled hard on him and lost by about 1/2 a car length. We raced again with almost the same results. Despite losing I was pretty happy. An Eclipse is pretty much made for racing and that kind of thing and I stayed right with him and damn near beat him. If the road we were on was a little longer I would have beaten him because I was pulling fast at the end. So I lost twice but it showed me that my car is faster than I thought it was, which is a good thing. Shoot with a mod or two ill blow him away. LOL Just thought Id share the results. Take Care

Good going. In my other post, I said the GSX should beat you easily. I guess they aren't as fast as I thought; stock wise anyway. Yes, you lost, but who cares. You can't win them all. I have gone against Mustang GT(newer ones), Camaro Z28, and a few other cars that I know can beat me, yet I still raced them. Surprisingly sometimes I can hang with them pretty good. And at the end of the race, they were quite shock that I could even hang with them. Let just say, they have a new respect for Maximas. I have to tell you though, you better have a few mods if you want to hang with them. Stock wise, you'll get blown away. I guess my point is that you won't know if you don't try. You lost, but I'm sure you are quite proud that you hang with him pretty good. As far as that Grand Am...unless that Grand Am is a Ram Air Grand Am, it won't even be close. Btw, did you manually shifted when you raced, or left it in Drive? If you manually shift, you probably do better.

 

I just left it in drive. Ive never tried manual shifting in my Max before. The Eclipse driver was actually really shocked about how close I came to beating him. So was everyone else. As far as mods, I just ordered a Stillen Intake and a y-pipe so look out. haha Atleast I know when I put my intake and y-pipe on ill beat that Eclipse pretty easily. Well see how it all goes. as i said in your prior post.. race the GSX.. just be sportsman about it .. and you did.. thats damn cool.. its nice to now that you can race even though you know you will lose..

i applaud you .. because more people should be like you.. its BS when people only race people they are faster than.. sometimes it shows great driver skill to beat or hang with a faster car

Thanks for the complements guys I appreciate it. Heres the funny thing Chunger, the guy in the Eclipse said he had beaten a 97 SE 5spd with NOS, LMAO hehheeh yeah right. There is now way that happened. Not if he only beat me by less than 1/2 a car lenght!!! Im sure he just made that up not knowing how fast Maxima's really are. I think i put a big dent in their little racing groups confidence though beating 4 out of the 5 cars I raced. lol I think thats kinda funny especially since im all stock. Not for long though. At the rate your going, I won't have to race wonder about who I can beat and not beat. The funniest thing is I was driving home tonight and I was thinking that we all are racing what are supposed to be sports cars. We got people all uptight on boards across the America.
