Is my tranny screwed?

Hey all, I got these damn symptoms lately in my car and it seems to get worse. Alot of times when I hit the gas past first gear the rpm seems to be not moving much (like stuck at 2 rpm) before about to shift to next gear. Then when I hit the gas harder, for like 2 secs (no exageration) the car feels like not gonna shift to next gear, but then the rpm moves normally and doesnt get stuck... this process repeats over some gears... One thing to note is that when I press O/D OFF, these symptoms do not pop up. Another thing is I got codes 0302 and 0304 knock sensor and egr hi lo flo... Car is 88K+ miles and I never did transmission fluid change, cause my brother says now its too late to change the fluid and just leave it alone... its automatic se yeart 99

hmm never had this before though when the car was lower than 85k miles... all seemed smooth before that mileage... how much would it cost to install manual transmission in this biatch?

its never too late to change the fluid in your tranny....and doing a full fluid exchange can often times cure a lot of transmission woes. There is no excuse to not at least drain the pan on a maxima since it has a drain plug....most any other car the pan has to come off for this task. Given how easy a full exchange is on the Max i highly recommend it.

This kinda sounds like the typical maxima tranny that doesn't down shift unless you come to a complete stop or mash the gas pedal. The first time I drove an auto i could have sworn it felt like it was on the way out...but thats just how its programmed.

i want to do it myself cause the shops seem to do it for 50$ + next to me, and they dont use the recommended fluid
gonna probably flush out all that crap and refill... looking for some links on how to's for this so i dont mess anything up there and end up with no transmission at all
