intake

i have a k&n drop panel filter i bought for 45 dollars a couple months ago. i felt a little bit of gains, but i have been contemplating on whether or not i want to get a cold air intake for my maxima. i have an auto, so a short ram air intake would not be as effective, seeing as auto maximas lack low end power, which is supplied by a cold air intake. the short ram gives mid-high rpm power. anyway, im looking for a little bit of hp gains, and a better sound... my friend has a short ram air intake and it sounds good, he has a 5 spd. if i was to get a cai would i get any noticeable hp gains? i know the sound would be completely different, but would going from the drop panel filter which i believe gives about 1-3 hp (or so it says) to a cai claiming to give 5-12 hp depending on the brand be worth it? and if so, which brand would give the most hp?
thanks and sorry that was so long

because, automatics lack low end power, while 5 spds have plenty of it. a cold air intake provides low rpm power, and a short ram air intake proveds mid-high rpm power. so a cold air intake would be more useful in an automatic... its in the faq's

With cold Air you will loose more low End power, then mid and high power. I have the Injen and I am going with a short Ram. I just ordered these fro this website, I am giving a shot see how things going to be. This is not the best short Ram Intake but for the money I can't go wrong, don’t buy anything from eBay, they most likely not going to be good. Check this site Racingworks. I am going to sell my Injen after I test this one out I am not going to keep their filter I am going to buy a K&N universal filter. One of the reason I am not going to keep my Injen Cold Air Intake; I was at a maxima meet 3 weeks ago, I meet this guy who had a blue 2001 or 2002 Maxima, he said he had the Injen, he hit a puddle of water and sucked water into the engine and his engine was making a knocking noise. Second Injen intake sits behind the radiator, so how can it be cold air intake? Good luck.

here is the link where I ordered the short ram.
