well...my wsp y-pipe is about 2years+ with 60,000 miles. i'm the second owner and the flex section is wrapped with DEI exhaust wrap.
i don't if it was the rain or my new greddy sp2, but today in CA it finally rain and and the "bees-in-the-can" sound is very noticible. what should i do?
1. get myself another $160 wsp y-pipe from GD.
2. ship my y-pipe to dallas and get the flex section replaced.
3. buy myself a brand new custommaxima SS y-pipe for $250.
4. buy a used cattman/stillen SS y-pipe from 4th gen classified.
basically i post this thread to let you guys know that warpspeed non-SS y-pipe doesn't last too long that's all.

yea...there's a lot of things that i wish i could have done it right in the first place.
ie.
1. SS y-pipe over aluminized y-pipe
2. greddy sp2 catback over custom back
3. sprint springs over maxspeed springs
4. Sumitomo HTR+ over kumho ecsta supra
and the list goes on...

I had the bees in a can sound. What i did was i went to a exhaust shop and the welded the pipe to whatever it was that it was rattling against. Or they might have cut something off. But it doesnt rattle that much anymore....

why don't you call them and ask about it? i think a few people have got a flex section shipped to them and had an exhaust shop weld it in. i had to rewrap my budget flex section really ghetto because it unravelled but hopefully it stays quiet this time. goodluck happy

Man i haven't laughed that hard in a long time. WSP is worthless when it comes to replacing parts. I had a CAT go bad in 5 months, tried to work with dallas, he sent me a busted a s s CAT, called to ask what the hell happened, he said you want a new one, you can pay full price for it.
Good LUCK !!!

Dallas won't warranty anything because the pipe was wrapped. I believe this is posted on their site too. Cattman won't warranty if you do the same.
Regardless of the marketing, a lined flex section isn't going to stop all the bees in the cans sound. There's no way around it. Much of the noise comes from the thinner wall tubing. Both Cattman and Dallas admit this. As the temps drop outside, the y-pipes become more noisy. My alumnized non-mandrel lined WSP y-pipe as made a mild bees in the can sound at around 4500+rpms at WOT. The sound isn't near has pronounced as it was with my nonlined Stillen Y-pipe.
As for rust, I've had my alumnized WSP y-pipe for about 3 years now and it's endured 3 Midwest salty winters. There's no rust on the pipe. Here's a pic of the y-pipe after last years winter:
Remember, stainless can rust too and I've seen stainless Budget Y-pipes with rust.

Exactly! (Although I will wait until this winter surpasses until I install mine.)
