How do you tighten the throttle cable?

 

i too would like to knw this, mine seems pretty loose right now and i think it might help with the problem i'm having

 

You can loosen the two nuts from the throttle cable. You will see two cables, the one inside is the throttle cable...closest to the firewall...the other...closest to the front of the hood is the cruise control cable. ... there is a thread some where on this subject...

 

do they need to be tight? Could that effect the car's idle?

 

If too loose or too tight it does effect, best way is start the engine and adjust the cable bewteen 700 and 1000 RPM. To tighten tthe cable turn the nuts clockwise or the other way, i think but try both, i think is one of the two way when u turn it.... I did mine like a couple weeks ago.

 

ok loosened bolts and all it adjusts is the mounting position, the cable is still just as loose
