4th Generation turbo???
I wanted to get a turbo for my 4th generation, but I have an automatic. I'm looking to convert it to stick, but if I don't, is it still worth getting the turbo kit? What is the range of prices for a good turbo kit? Anyone have any suggestions?

I think the auto will actually hold boost better. I believe C_max (or something like that) got rid of a 5spd in favor of an auto because of breaking the tranny (can't remember where I read that though so I could be wrong).

Yes. Don't think you need to do a swap to 5-spd just because you want to turbo. However, I'd probably reccomend it unless you prefer automatic or have some other reason to favor an auto.

get a superchartger, auto's work best with sc. if you go turbo, you better do a 5-speed conversion due to turbo lags. here are the options:
staying auto, add supercharger: (vortec 2) about $3000 for parts. then add labor
5speed conversion: cost more than $1000, then add turbo kit (cost $3500 for small kit and $4500 for big kit). then you account for labor. dude, this is going to cost you way too much to do. i choose supercharger over turbo if i am in your shoes.
here is the link to the turbo kit you should get:

think hard about this issue. staying n/a will run your engine much longer. these tc and sc will decrease the longivity of the engine by a huge fraction. if you got plenty of greens, go and do it all the way, or else, stay n/a and do small little mods like most of us.

I agree with everything cyu1 says. You can do things a little cheaper than what he said if you look hard enough, but I'm assuming you need the labor done, also. But I also think that if he can plop down $3000+ for either FI setup, that engine longevity isn't a concern of his and he can scrounge another one up for $300 if he needs to.

Im acualy about to do the swap soon i got most of my parts tranny clutch, shifting cables pedals , the prices vary i got mines for $600 with everything like new, sence im goin to have my friends help me out doing the swap i dont have to spend money on the actual swap and as far as the turbo it all depens how much power you want to get out of the car , id say go with custom kid , they can push more power and in some way cheaper then the regular turbo kit, as for S/C i was never a big far of blowers for many reasons one of them is turbo is alot more effective since its using ur exhaust instead of being powered by a belt, another words the maximum spool on a sc u will get at about 5000-6000 every close to red line and on a turbo u maximum spool u will get at about 2000-3500 depending on the size of the turbo. this are some factors u want to think about.
Ps. with turbos there are alot more room for expantions then S/C, o and im goin turbo in couple of month my self , and if my spelling is bad O well to bad!
