Funny noise when A/C is on......HELP!

I have a 97 5 speed. Whenever I use the air conditioner while I am driving, I hear a funny noise at only 3300-3500 RPM's in mostly in 2nd and 3rd gear. What could this be? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Describe funny.

If at WOT the a/c will switch off and you should hear a clicking noise similar to a relay.

Under normal conditions w/ a/c on, it makes a repetitive clikcing noise, not like a relay, but more like a low gurgle, that's just the compressor working.

I use to have the same problem, when the RPM was around 3500 but after a month the sound was gone.

Is that a sig pic or do you just post those two huge blurry pics in every thread? Prepare to be flamed for the wing, dragon decal thing, and the altezzas.

Oh Mah Gawd.

Sometimes people just shouldn't own Maxima's. *shrug*

Sorry dood ... I don't mean to flame, but in my opinion, that looks simply awful.

If you're going to do that, put the pics in your sig and shrink them down ... a LOT.

getting back on track.

If the noise is anything like mine, it sounds like it's coming from somewhere behind the glovebox. It's a rattling noise almost like there's a loose bolt with a washer vibrating. It's only at RPM's between 3 and 3.5k and only when the A/C is on.

I've taken apart everything I could get at without removing the dash. Can't find anything obvious.

p.s.

mines a 97 5sp also.

Are there any components behind the glovebox A/C related?

Yes ... but I wouldn't think they would be related to engine RPM. I had a candy wrapper make its way into my AC fan (round, white thing behind the glovebox) that was making an awful lot of noise when I turned the air on. If it's RPM related, it's more than likely in the engine bay.
