Rough shifting in the mornings
Rough shifting in the mornings
ok guys. when going to work or school at around 7:30 am, when my car is completely cold, and after warm up i start driving it, the shifting is kind of rough until the heat gauge is at half way and 10 mins more of driving. what could that be???
that would be your car behaving normal! When your engine is warmed up by you sitting there for 10 mintues in the morning with the car in idle doesnt mean your tarnsmission is warmed up too since it hasnt been driven yet. After you drive it for a couple of miles it will get warmed up and then u should be good to go. Just make sure u replace your tranny fluid every 30,000 miles to maintain it.

is it ok to mix tranny fluid??? or should you do a complete drain and fill? because i got it done like no more than 8 months ago and maybe they did not fill it up to how much its supposed to be in there. if i would to refill it, would i have to use the same tranny fluid?
use the same wait. It is normal for that to occur when it is cold outside. You think you can feel your gears, my 5th gear synchro is gone. I have to double clutch and let the rpm's drop to 1000 before I shift to 5th and it grinds 70% of the time! Try that one at 130mph, it SUCKS

You can mix new and old fluid, or various brands...just make sure its the right kind, Dextron/Mercon III.
Any tranny will be affected by the cold...fluids get thicker, thats all.
I know you said 8 months but was that just draining the pan or full fluid change? I would consider a full fluid change if you car has never had one. If you do it yourself, as its not very hard, I would switch to synthetic ATF (Mobil 1 works for many here) which is less affected by the cold.
