Repost Tranny Question... I accept your Flames...

I know this question has been asked before. I even remember the answer it received however, I can't remember the specidifcs. I searched the forum for about a good hour and could not find the thread....

Anyways, My question is, will a third Gen 5spd tranny work for the 4th gen Auto to Manual tranny swap?... The answer that I remember hearing was yes. Now, my real question is... Is there any specific draw backs such as how the 4th Gen 5spd tranny has the bearing problem...

I know I should shoot for an early 5th gen 5spd but... hey... the 3rd gen is a lot cheaper. Also, after the swap is finished, I could always go and get the 5th gen later....

Anyway, thanks to all those who may help

First why would you want to go back and put a new tranny in later.

I doubt it will fit. VG and VE are completely different engines and I doubt they will bolt up to a VQ. I would just get a 5th gen or a least a 4th gen with low miles.

Thanks H2K... Why would I get a 5th later?... Money... I don't have the stuff falling out my butt... I kinda wish I did though. I guess I'll just have to put my Tranny Swap dreams on hold for a while longer while I save up the money for a nice 5th gen tranny.

Thanks again.
