This isn't that bad I suppose, but when I was 16 (17 now), a cop saw me ROLL through a stop sign (I was downshifting to avoid using the brakes...) in my family's '92 Camry DX when I decided to ride out second gear (which isn't an easy task when using a 2.2L 4 banger with >150k miles). Just got done hitting 60 (after shifting to third) when I saw the lights. Cop yelled at me, but let me off easy IMO. 114 for the stop sign infraction, and 93 for "travelling to fast for road conditions - 26 in a 25 mph zone." If he felt like it, he could've put down at least 50 for my current speed. Parents were pissed too, never having had a ticket/accident in their lives, and decided to take away my liscence for 6 mos. That turned into one month after remembering how annoying it is to drive my A$$ everywhere.

Knock on wood, no tickets in 9 mos., even after getting my 5 spd. max.

Also, wear your seatbelts...
Like most everyone here, their high school years probably saw a good many deaths due to car accidents. My area has more than most due to the style of driving paired with the kind of roads we have. (Imagine all windy, country roads). I had a friend, who on a road like most, took a turn too fast in a Jeep Cherokee. Rolled 5+ times before the car rested against a tree. Estimated speed 60-70 in a 30. He was thrown from the car, most likely before the first roll was completed, travelling through the air at 50+ mph. (Only God knows what slowed him down...) He died a day later due to internal injuries/brain injuries.
I tell you this because he had someone in his car - who luckily put on his seatbelt. He walked away from this accident with a scratch on his leg to see our friend lying with a cracked skull in a pool of blood.
Enough said, just something to think about before you start to drive.

I think I'll temporarily take the crown here til someone shows me one up.

I got a $1400 ticket back in '98 in So. Cal when I was 17. I was going ~120 on westbound 91, and a cop merging onto 91 from 710S just happened to see me fly by -- I sure didn't see him. About 4 miles later, I see him in my rear view and I hastily pull over. Too late by then. He pulls me over comes out with his S&W drawn and tells me to get out. The cop is furious for making me take him on a blind chase. I get frisked, but the cop really couldn't do anything but give me a speeding ticket for 130mph.

The funny thing was that later in court, the cop said he topped out at 127MPH in his cruiser and was still unable to catch up to me... poor guy had trouble pulling in a grocery getter

$340 + 8 points in NY for 87 in a 50 on I684. That was 3 years ago in Feb., and hopefully I can try to get some decent insurance when its out of the DMV records. At least better then the $450 a month I've been paying since.

I knew this guy (Friend of the family) racing on 1&9 in Linden and a car hit him in the side coming out of a sidestreet only to cause him to go out of control hit a 18-wheeler, then hit the divider (his friend then flew out the passenger window because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt) and the car continued to roll on the divider until it fell on it's hood (he was wearing his seatbelt and the seatbelt locked and the **** caught on fire and exploded) He was pronounced dead at the scene. Friend had a couple scratches on his right shoulder and cheek. So no, it goes both ways.

Canadian ticket

$365 for doing 150 km in a 100 km zone (Outskirts of Ontario - entering Canada). Wasn't racing anyone, just tired after 10 hours of driving and lost track of the speed. That's the equivalent of doing 93 mph in a 62 mph zone.

$1000 fine along with the $365 speeding for having a radar detector. Highly illegal in Ontario. Valentine One confiscated on the spot. $1000 fine was later thrown out by the officer. Their radar detector detection units in the PD cars in Canada are no joke, they can detect any manufacturers unit in your car, including the Valentine One which is immune to only VG-2.

$575 in legal fees, hired an attorney in Canada.

$1940 total Canadian dollars reduced to $940 CD ($770 US).

Yes, points do TRANSFER from Ontario to New York. Biggest bunch of bull$hit I ever heard. I can admit I was speeding and had a radar detector and willing to pay the fines, however those ***** up North should not share points with the USA.

Thats one case in a million. Unfortunately it happens.

However, what are the chances of an accident like that happening? Very slim... Your MUCH more likely to have a simpler accident, ie rear ending someone, getting t boned etc... of which your airbag will deploy at 200MPH

lets do some math... Your traveling at 30mph and hit something... theres 3 different accidents.
Your car hitting something
Your body hitting something inside the car
Your organs hitting the inside of your body

I dont know about you but my body flying at 30mph and slamming into an airbag going 200mph doesnt sound like it goes both ways.

Wear your seat belt, chances are you'll live to see tomorrow. Dont use a one in a million chance in an unfortunate accident that god forbid happened to any one of us, as an excuse not to wear it.

WTF is a mazda speed? Its Mazda's aftermarket tuning company not a car.

Depends on how lenient the judge wants to be... YOU probably wont go to jail if you have no record but you'll have your license suspended depending on what the state law is and will be on probation and who knows, maybe even community service.

Know what you mean.

Know a relative, and his two friends who hit a 18 wheeler clipped/head on/two-lane highway. All that was left of my relative's truck, was a completely mangled and smashed cabin. It was completely impossible for anyone to live in such a mangled piece of steel.

Anyway, my cousin just remembers him flying and tumbling through the air. I saw that truck, and thank god he and his passengers were NOT wearing their seat belts. My cousin flew through the back window of the truck's cabin. Goes both ways.

that's ridiculous!!! for a blown headlight....!!! all of this goes to show that the tickets are purely based on regional/local laws and the luck of the draw of what cop you got and the kind of day he is having....cause if you compare tickets on here, you see that some people were doing 100+mph in a 55 zone and only got a $400 ticket...and others that did the exact same speed were issued $1000 and community service as well as a mandatory driving school and court fees and such!!! the one about the on spot confiscation of your valentine one is total BS....I mean I understand super harsh laws for organized street racing....but when you are speeding @ 2am in the morning like a lot of you on the freeways with nobody on them....and you by yourself in the car....you are risking your own life....most of these should just be standard speeding tickets and nothing more!!!! these tickets are raising in price every year!!...and not as deterents so much as straight revenue for the local government so they can simply just be less responsible with their current spending....making things worse then they already are! and the idea of ticketing quotas for cops have become quite a moral objection among many who have had bad experiences with tickets....I would have to agree with most of those objections...!!!

can't imagine what tickets for doing the same offenses will be in 5-10years!!!?!?!?!!

I got off from my hanicap parking ticket that I got recently for $330...but I got lucky...a guy who was there at the mcdonalds where I got the ticket saw it and offered to come in to court....little did I know what he was going to tell them....anyway, long story short, I was standing there when he told the court that he heard the parking enforcement guy racially slandering me and tellin me that "too many of you white people get off"....which wasn't true...but the judge believed this guy....after the court was out, I thanked him and offered him $100 for taking off work...although he didn't accept it!!! had no clue that is what he was going to say though....the judge didn't even talk to me...he just lectured me....lol

anyway, good luck with your tickets all of you, I feel your pain! I have never gotten a moving violation ticket...but my friends and my brother has so I know what they went through....one guy I know felony speeds all the time, gets pulled over, and they let go with a warning....and that's after clocking him at 120 or so in a 60 zone!!! really pisses me off!!! on top of it the one time he did get a ticket he was clocked by the cop for doing 125 or so and the cop wrote him up for 65 in a 45!!

I drive around with illegal tint, and lights on my wiper washers. There are a few other things but somehow I never get pulled over.

My highest ticket was last year....in April I got a ticket for +15 in a school zone - $400 for ticket and then a mandatory class. Then, before I took that class I got another ticket for racing a BMW 85 in a 55. I found out afterwards it was actually and she....too bad I didnt get her number but I won the race.

Went to court on that 20 pt ticket....by that time I had taken the other tickets class and told them that I took the class because I needed it.....different count so they never know I had to take it for another ticket and racing got dropped so I only paid $35 and 2 pts for the original 20 pt ticket....plus that whole time I had illegal tint and the cops do nothing. Also first ticket got dropped to 2 pts but it was school zone plus that class so that is why it was $400.......Colorado cops, as much as cops suck, aren't all that bad....plus you never see them out clocking!

Fail to yield to emergency vehicle
Cop gave me a ticket. not sure about the fine, but if i LOSE i get 4 points. The judge dismiss it b/c he mess up on the time. THANK GOD.

If you didnt, a good lawyer might be able to knock it down to a reckless op.

If you did, theres a high possibility of DUI conviction.

A friend of mine got a ticket doing 120+ in a 35mph zone and a construction zone...that ticket was for $1450. He showed it to me so it's no BS. I am not sure how he didn't get his license suspended or arrested.

If you are talking (blow) about breathlizer test, than I had 3 this weekend. I was involved in an accident over sunday 3:30AM.

I have about a (!@#$) beer. The cop tested 3 times on me. Exactly what is the New York City alcohol limit? .08 or .05?

I wasn't exactly thinking clearly by the time they got me into the station. I blew a .251 when the legal limit is .08. I was a little over 3 times the limit. Dumbest thing I have ever done by far. Looks like its time to quit drinking.

I have a lawyer who is trying to help, so I guess we'll see how it goes.

Community service: fine by me
restricted license: fine by me
big **** fine: NOT ok
jail time: NOT ok
fully suspended license: NOT ok.

115km in a 60km zone which is a summons to court but the cop dropped it too a 109km in a 60km zone which equalled 3 demerit points and $350 ticket. Cop never showed up in court.

I was going home from college, I was leaving PA and just entering NJ on either 78 or 287, cant remember. So I was cruisin along going 80-90 then I saw the blue lights. Pulled over quick and he comes up to the window and asks how fast I think I was goin, i say 80, hes like 90, im like oh, he says he was following me for 3 miles(no lights obviously), im like STUPID!!! (i was talking with my friends, another case of not paying attention) He goes back to his car and im like, this is NJ, iwas going 90 for 3 miles, im screwed (i have a clean record at this point, 20 yrs old). My friends were like, sorry dude. He comes back and doesn't give me a ticket, WOOOHOOOO, but he does hit me up for having a tag on my mirror (obstuction of view) for 40 bucks, ill take that over a 300 dollar ticket and higher insurance anyday!!! My friend was mad, hes never gotten off a ticky. This was January 2004

someone got only a fine for trying to elude a cop...are you serious...they usually just haul you to jail at that point....or just tow your car and make you walk home....this is ridiculous...some of you do crazy speeds in low speed zones or even construction zones and get almost nothing....and other do the same thing or even a little less and get slapped with jail time, courttime, impounded cars, and revoked licences!

I guess some people are really lucky vs. others!!!!
