Alternator...? AGAIN?!?!?

Ok here's the deal... car is a '97.

I had the alternator replaced approx. 6-8 months ago. These were the symptoms of the old alternator.

1.) Was charging battery at over 15 volts under 16 though.
2.) Surges in power when at a stop for e.g. (The OD Light and Highbeam light should always remain solid as well as all other LEDS / Bulbs inside the car, mine were stuttering in other words they were not solid it was sort of like strobe lights but much faster and consistent, the rpms were fluctuating between 550-565-570 every second.

Here's the deal with the new alternator...

After it was put in everything was working fine, smooth steady idle, no vibration, charging at 14.7-14.8V, my main concern was the power surges while at idle, the new alternator took care of that.

Now here's the problem...

1.) At a stop light the surges are back!!! But not as significant as they were before... Before you could actually see the lights flickering and the charge was not consistent. Now the lights are flickering and the surge is back but it's extremely minute but I'm noticing it! I got the alternator tested out and it's charging just fine without much fluctation in voltage... so what's the deal? If I put up the window then all the illumination gets solid which tells me it's not purging so unless power is being drawn from the alternator it surges while at idle. I'm pis*ed I hope this is easy to understand.

Battery no because the battery is only working to start the car and run the car once the ignition is off, the alternator consistently charges the battery. Voltage regulator maybe, does it throw off a SES light any way to check, where is it located?

Voltage regulator is located inside the alternator. Its what the harness plugs into.

Sorry, I just can't figure out what you're saying here ...

Your battery could definitely be the problem, have it load tested at a shop. Remember original Nissan batteries typically last about 5-6yrs (YMMV), a battery with a shorted cell or other malfunction can cause your alternator to overcharge, thereby killing the alternator windings/voltage regulator etc.

Really I wasn't aware of that, I was always under the impression the battery only worked to start the car and run the accessories after the ignition was turned off.
