I wish the track ET/MPH supported the butt dynos. I really want to believe these things work.

Hmmm looks like all these testimonials are making my slowly switch my position from the y-pipe being enough... I would definetly like to see some track times back up the headers!

for those with the y-pipe / headers / sp2 exhaust, i have read that it as a low hum at idle...how about when moving? do you always hear the hum?

i wanted to keep the noise levels reasonable....nothing loud when i am driving all the time..just when i gas it over 3000 rpms....any advice?

did you have to lift your motor out a bit to get to the header? i hope you didnt because im going to do this as well, and im doing it myself but dont want to rent a cherrypick.

I had way to many varibales with my before and after track results, so I don't feel it is fair for me to make claims on how they affected my performance. I did not dyno with them before and after either. With that said, I feel that they did not do much and if I were put back in the same position and knowing what I know now I probably would not do it again. Sure they look great under the hood and sound really nice with the SP2...but that is not why I got them.

But there is also other factors. I may continue to mod this car...SC, maybe the 3.5 bottom end. So in the long run it may be good that I got them.

I just don't want people saying that the Cattman headers don't do much based on my expierence.

If you were to get the headers installed at a shop, what do you suppose it will cost? I don't have a lift or anything close to it in order to do it myself.

you know i heard cattman + greddy and it sounded okay not great .. ceasers sounds real nice though. def need track or dyno #s to back up 700.00 headers vs 200.00 y-pipe

Once I get my new clutch installed, and go to the track on a day when the DA isn't 1500+, then I think my ET and MPH will support the headers. Only time will tell.

Ri max you still have this week to head up to the track, prove to everyone that these headers work. the headers are no longer $700, more like $825. but we will see. i think these will make a diffrence, well i know on my car the would any way since i have a pre-cat that is still on there. i am cali emissions and i feel that if this is eliminated that it may free up some HP.
good luck

I want to believe however the data suggests otherwise. I30tMike, Ceasar, and Optimus has all shown no change in the 1/4 mile with the headers over a y-pipe.

wow, the cattman headers are so expensive!! at cutomenterprise.com atleast. where did you get yours from? and how much did they cost? the one at customenterprise come with the y-pipe tho.... and the installation cost must have been a killer! i mite get it down the road in the future, like in a year or two, but rite now, im estremely short on money!

Here's a link to some dyno results I posted on maximaracing.org. The dyno is stock vs header, not y-pipe vs header but still a worthwhile comparison as y-pipe #'s are pretty well known.

I already have a y-pipe and I'll get the headers as soon as i have the money. The sound alone is enough. A good sounding exhaust setup is priceless IMO. I want the tone of my exhaust to match my intake tone.

But still, for about a 5-7whp gain over y-pipe (if that), not worth the extra $500+ and pain to install.

In my opinion it is, if even just for the really sweet exhaust tone...especially on a 3.5.

Got mine directly from Cattman for $695 + shipping. It comes with everything you need (headers, y-pipe, gaskets, hardware etc). Don't know if that price still applies though, it might be more now. Install did not cost me anything as I did it myself.

As far as sound goes, it is definitely a nice improvement, especially paired with Cattman's catback. Check out Ceasar's sound clips on maximaracing.org... it's music to the ears.
