2 Questions 1999 Max that has been sitting for 8 months.
I tried a start a friends 99 MAX that has been sitting for eight months while he was away on duty. His GF was driving it but not for the last 8 months. The car has a dead battery with a dead cell. When we jump the car it triggers the alarm and the remote in the battery is dead so we can't turn it off. Is there any other way to turn it off. We replace the battery in the remote but his GF told me she dropped it in the toilet once so I figure thats why its not working. Also once its started, and we remove the jumper cables every thing goes really dim and the car cuts off. Now the alternator was working fine for the time when his GF was driving the car. Can it go bad by just sitting?

Battery may be too far gone to hold a charge. Take the battery to get tested at an autoparts place. Also as far as the alarm remote, it should dry out on its own and still be able to function properly. As far as the alarm itself, try disconnecting it away from the main battery terminal or using the valet mode to override it. I'd be willing to bet my paycheck that the battery is too far gone. Also like maxima99se said, use up all the gas in the car quickly and get the oil changed.

the key also has a computer chip in it . Once the batterey is drained completly down (this happened to me) it forgets the code for the chip on the key. nissan had to reprogram my key, its a fuel cut. This actually happened at the nissan dealer while getting some rearended repairs.

sounds like it could use an engine flush as well since there's some heavy-duty sludge buildup for the time its been sitting there
