Serious brake question ...

Was just changing my brakes, and when tightening the bolts that hold the caliper onto the torque member (14mm bolts) I tightened too much and twisted the head off one.

Freaked out and called just about every auto parts store and dealership around, only the dealership 30 mins away told me they had that bolt in stock. Ok, so I have no car and everyone in my family is at work until after these places close, so I find a friend but she doesnt want to go for an hour drive... she has stuff to do.

So we goto meineke and the guy there does work for me and my family all the time, been a mechanic forever and does good work, knows lots .. gave me a bolt. It's slightly different, the head is 12mm but the thread is the same. Same length, but the thread goes up a bit farther on the bolt then the stock ones. He assured me that it didn't matter and I believe him, but I just wanted to get your opinions. I put it altogether with it and it's fine for now, next time I'm near that dealership I will stop and get the correct bolt and replace it but for a week or two it might stay with this one.

What do you think?

lol didn't even think of that .. junkyard is usually the first place i go.

i guess when i visualize my junkyard i just think of seeing cars sitting on the ground with no wheels, ill bet the bolts are on the calipers still though.
