Hayden Trans cooler.

Okay, just got mine yesterday. Is it hard to install? Is there a write up anywhere? I'm a n00b when it comes to installing stuff, so is this going to be easy?

Its way easy. Make sure to get some bigger hose to cover the smaller hose in places where it might rub against metal. The last thing you want is one of those hoses going out on you.

Does it get cold in the winter in SLC? Yeah, I thought so. Throw out that hayden and get a b&m cooler. They have a bypass hose for the winter so you're not cooling the trans when it's cold outside.

Would cooling the tranny fluid during a midwest winter be bad for the transmission? Or is the B&M bypass just a marketing gimmick?

Makes sense not to cool it in the winter.

I asked the guy at mobiletek and he said it'd be fine to run the hayden cooler. I dunno, I'll look into that B&M cooler.

this may seem like a stupid question but I'll ask anyway.

The write up is basically the same for all tranny coolers right? I was looking before for the specific kind of tranny cooler used in the write up but found one like it but not exactly like it, and just wanted to make sure its pretty much all the same thing.

thanks

i really dont think a tranny cooler would harm anything unless you're redlining it while it's still warming up....

I had a hard time finding transmission cooler hose. Called all around the big boys, but no luck. I ended finding a prepacked 3' section at NAPA, but the diameter was slightly smaller than the included hose. Just had to dip the end in boiling water for a min to soften it up, then it slid easily over the nipple on the cooler.

I can't say how much of a difference the cooler made, because shortly before installing I dropped the trans pan, replaced the filter, flushed the trans, and replaced fluid with synthetic ATF. But I will say after the flush and installing the cooler, the car shifts much, much smoother and I dont get that hard down shift into 1st anymore.
