has a replaced knock sensor ever not made a difference?

ok as some of u might know my gas mileage isnt that good.. i had codes for knock sensor and 1 of my front o2 sensors. well im broke so i cant do everything at once. i have to do it in intervals.... so last week i got my 2 front 02 sensors change- borg warner $32 a pop on ebay (couldnt beat that price and they were a direct fit. not need to reconnect harnesses or anything.... ok so i got it from the shop on Monday and filled up. So ive been driving it for less than a week now and the sensors being changed made a little difference in performance.. i feel i have more pull now.... and im getting a little better gas mileage also.. not a big difference but eveything is working better than it was before i changed the sensors....

so im gonna change my knock sensor sometime this weekend and am wondering if it is going to make a HUGE difference in my gas mileage... like i thought changing my 02 sensors would make a BIG difference when it is actually a SMALL difference.. Has anyone ever replaced their knock sensor and it seemed to not make a difference in MPG?

sorry this was so long. i just try to answer questions that i know r going to come my way beforehand.

i don't know mileage wise because i've never found out what mpg i'm getting, but performance wise, i never noticed any difference when i put the new KS in. i know it's working because i'm not pulling any codes, but i would just throw it on and see what it does. make sure you reset your computer after you install it and let it readjust for a day or two.

A failing Knock sensor retards timing which equals less power, poor mpg, a working KS advances timing making a more efficient running motor inturn better mpg. How much of an increase depends on your driving habits, but you should see an increase. Go for a KS on ebay as long as it's new and they show the box you should be okay, a lot of us on the forum got ours from yoshi's ebay $90, good luck hope this helps

the closest thing to cleaning your knock sensor is to remove it and scrub off any crap that might come between the sensor and the motor......this will help it detect knocking a little better

but....JUST BUY A NEW ONE, i know i am in the near future

The oxygen sensor sets off the KS code. Best thing to do is to reset the CEL and check a few days later for the KS ghost code. When you check again a few days later, if you get a 0505 then the KS doesn't need to be replaced, but if you get a 0304 then it does need to be replaced.

If the wire harness for the KS is "bad" then replacing the KS won't make a difference
